Apple has hit the stage at their Cupertino office in US and as expected they have brought their all new iPhone along. Dubbed the iPhone SE, the new smartphone is a simply a 4-inch variant of its bigger brother namely the Apple iPhone 6S.
Apple has however kept the design of the iPhone SE similar to the one seen in the two generation old iPhone 5S. Well, it would be safe to assume that Apple is touting the all new smartphone as an 'enhanced' version of the existing iPhone 5S.
Now with a 4-inch Retina Display
Upfront the Apple iPhone SE maintains the 4-inch display real estate of the iPhone 5S, but it is now sharper thanks to a new Retina panel with a resolution of 640x1136 pixels. However, do note the 3D Touch features of the Apple iPhone 6S goes missing in the all new device.
Surprisingly Apple hasn't played around with the internals of the iPhone, and the much of the specs have been carried over from the flagship iPhone 6S.
As powerful as iPhone 6S
Under the hood of the Apple SE is an in-house A9 chip clubbed with a M9 co-processor. This according to Apple translates into a performance boost as high as 2X from the Apple iPhone 5S. Besides that, Apple claims that the all-new budget iPhone has a similar performance as seen in iPhone 6S. Apart from that the Apple iPhone SE features the same 12MP iSight camera capable of capturing 4K videos.
The Live Photos features of the iPhone 6S also carries forward to the 4-inch SE. Besides that, the front selfie camera of the iPhone SE comes with a similar 'Display Flash' feature seen in the bigger and costlier sibling.
Support for Apple Pay
The iPhone SE also sports a TouchID on the front which can again be used for making payments using Apple Pay. For enabling payments via the Apple iPhone SE, the Cupertino giant has integrated a NFC chip on the inside. Incidentally Apple claims that despite all the add horse power the iPhone SE provides a significantly improved battery life over the aging iPhone 5S.
