Chinese smartphone maker Meizu has announced the launch of company's latest budget smartphone- Meizu M5. The smartphone has been launched in Chinese market in two variants- one with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage at an approximate price of Rs. 6,900, and the other slightly powerful variant with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage priced around Rs. 8,900 in Indian currency.
At this price-point, Meizu M5 will compete with budget smartphones from Lenovo, Xiaomi, Gionee, Asus, etc. Meizu has not yet revealed any date for M5's launch in Indian market but we expect the company to launch the handset before the 2016 end.

HD display and Minimal Design
Meizu M5 features a 5.2-inch HD display with a 2.5D curved glass. The budget handset is made from polycarbonate and will be available in Mint Green, Glacier White, Champagne Gold, Sapphire Blue, and Matte Black colour variants. The design is very basic yet appealing.
Respectable Cameras on-board
Meizu is offering a 13MP rear camera with a dual-tone LED flash, phase detection auto-focus and f/2.2 aperture 5P Lens.
The front has a 5MP camera with f/2.0 aperture 4P lens for taking selfies.
Octa-Core Processor and Yun OS (Linux)
Meizu M5 is powered by a MediaTek MT6750 octa-core processor (4 x 1.5GHz Cortex-A53 + 4 x 1.0GHz Cortex-A53) accompanied with Mali T860 GPU. The CPU is paired up with a 2GB or 3GB of LPDDR3 RAM.
What's interesting about the handset is the underlying operating system. The smartphone runs on Yun OS, a Linux distribution that is based on Android, with Flyme OS 5.5 UI on top. We don't have much information about the customized OS and will update the space as soon as we get some concrete information on the OS.
Large Battery and Good on Connectivity
Meizu M5 is backed by a 3,070mAh battery unit, which is claimed to deliver 66 hours of music playback.
As far as connectivity goes, the smartphone has 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS/A-GPS support.
Meizu M5 also features a fingerprint sensor. The biometric sensor embedded in the home button is claimed to read fingerprints in under 0.2 seconds.
Meizu M5 has a hybrid dual-SIM slot- Nano+Nano. It doubles up as a microSD card slot to expand the storage by up to 128GB. The smartphone will be available in 16GB and 32GB ROM variants.
