Meizu MX5e launched to take on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3: 6 Features You Need to Know!
Meizu MX6 launch is round the corner, but that doesn't stop the Chinese smartphone maker to launch a trimmed down variant of their last year flagship at slightly cheaper price point. Dubbed the Meizu MX5e, the smartphone that brings the best of MX5 to the table was spotted on the company website in China.

For those unaware the bigger brother of this smartphone namely the Meizu MX5 is available for sale in India via Snapdeal at price of Rs 19,999. Thus the price of 1799 Yuan which roughly resolves down to Rs 18,000 makes some sense. So without further ado, let's dive deep to find out what all have changed in the Meizu MX5e.
#1
Despite the price cut the Meizu MX5e features a 5.5 inch Full HD (1920x1080p) Super AMOLED display upfront. This is similar to the one found in the original Meizu MX5. For protection Meizu is making use of Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Just to recall the Meizu MX5 had a stunning display with excellent colour rendering and wide viewing angles.
#2
Meizu has replaced the Helio X10 chip clocked at 2.2GHz to a clocked down 2.0GHz octa core version for the Meizu MX5e. This is clubbed with Power VRG6200 GPU. Apparently this is the same chip as found in the LeTv Le 1S and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 (Base Variant).
#3
As expected the Chinese smartphone maker has cut down on the RAM too. The Meizu MX5e in fact features a smaller 3GB of RAM with 16GB of internal storage. On the other hand the flagship Meizu MX5 came with 4GB RAM and 32GB onboard storage. Incidentally there is no room for memory expansion via MicroSD card slot.
#4
20.7MP camera on the back of the Meizu MX5 was one of the major selling factors for the smartphone. However the trimmed down variant of the device doesn't come with the same module. Instead it packs a new 16MP camera on the rear which is possibly equipped by an unknown Sony sensor. Besides that the rear camera is complimented by the presence of an LED Flash.
#5
Meizu has however carried forward the front camera module from the existing flagship smartphone. As a matter of fact the Meizu MX5e makes use of 5MP camera with a wide angle lens.
#6
Just like the Meizu MX5, the trimmed down version of the smartphone comes with a modestly large 3150mAh battery. It's worth noting that this battery is non-removable one, similar to the MX5.
