Motorola's budget smartphone, the Moto G, is about to complete 12 months of existence and is due for an upgrade. Apparently, the Moto G4 or MotoG (2016) is already making its way to the market with key elements that have been leaked already.
Samsung and Xiaomi have already made their mark in the Indian market with the launch of the J Series and the Redmi Note 3, respectively. Motorola needs to show some serious specifications at a bang for the buck price tag to gain some market share from these biggies. Here are the rumors, specifications and leaks of the Moto G4, coming summer 2016.
A 5-inch display
Almost similar to the previous Moto G3, the Moto G4 will have a compact 5-inch display. It will most probably be of Full-HD resolution, compared to just HD on its predecessor. This will be the most appropriate resolution given the size of the device and also a cost-effective decision.
3GB of RAM
Most OEMs have already shifted onto three gigabytes of RAM on their budget smartphones, in 2015. Motorola, however, stuck with 2GB RAM on the Moto G3 focusing on providing a smooth experience without the concern of the internals.
This time around, though, Motorola might be upgrading to a 3GB RAM stick on the Moto G4 (2016). Android M is a heavy software and Google recommends a significant increase in RAM amount for a fluid experience.
The Moto G4 2016 will retain the Dual-SIM stature of the Moto G3 and not go back to the single-SIM strategy, due to its target towards a specific audience. It might accept the Nano-SIM card like last year too.
Pricing and availability
If compared with the price of last year's Moto G, the latest-gen might be priced anywhere around Rs. 11,000 to Rs. 13,000. Also, Motorola is hosting a press event for May 17, which is expected to showcase the Moto G4 globally. We shall know more about its availability then.
