Samsung seems to be working on a sequel to its Galaxy Folder flip smartphone that was introduced last year. The unannounced Samsung Galaxy Folder 2 smartphone has been spotted on GFXBench benchmark site which reveals details of a few of its specifications. It was first spotted by Priceraja.
Going by the specification details gives in the list, the new Galaxy Folder smartphone will be a bumped up version of the last year's flip smartphone. The listing shows that the company has upgraded most of the specs of the phone. Here we take a look at 7 specifications and features that we may see on the Samsung Galaxy Folder 2 phone, if it gets launched this year.
No change in Display:
If the specs details given on the benchmarking site are to be considered, the Galaxy Folder 2 is likely to feature the same 3.8-inch WVGA screen with a 480 x 800 pixels resolution that's seen on the last year's model.
The listing reveals Snapdragon 425 chipset running under the hood, indicating that the company that upped the chipset from 1.2GHz quad-core from last year's model to a quad-core 1.4GHz CPU on Galaxy Folder 2. To handle the graphics, there is Adreno 308 GPU.
Better front facing camera:
The company seems to have replaced the 2MP front-facing camera on the Galaxy Folder smartphone with a 5MP sensor on the upcoming Galaxy Folder 2.
Higher RAM and storage capacity:
The listing highlights 33% hike in RAM on the Galaxy Folder 2, which now gets 2GB RAM, upped from 1.5GB on the current model. As far as the internal storage is concerned, the company has been increased it as well. We may get 16GB native storage, up from the 8GB on current model.
Newer Android version:
The Galaxy Folder 2 smartphone will run on Android 6.0.1 out of the box, which is newer version of the Android OS. The last year's Galaxy Folder ran older version in comparison.
It is likely that the company keeps the Samsung Galaxy Folder 2 an Asia specific smartphone offering, however nothing can be confirmed for now. As far as its launch is concerned, nothing concrete is known about Samsung's plans on making the phone official.
Going by the specs and considering the Galaxy Folder's launch price, we expect similar pricing of close to USD 250 for the sequel as well.
