Samsung Galaxy J series has been a hit in India ever since launch back in 2015 thanks to its cheesy advertisements regarding improved 4G net speed and an improved price to performance ratio (as per Samsung standards!).
Now Samsung is gradually revamping its J series lineup in India and a new Samsung J2 (2016) was spotted entering India in an import listing earlier this week. Apparently the devices have imported to India for testing purposes and can be expected to launch soon in the country. Besides that, the specs of the Samsung J2 (2016) smartphone was already leaked a month back via benchmark listing. So without further ado, let's get started and find out what all are known about the budget Galaxy J2 smartphone of 2016.

As per the leaked benchmark listing, the Samsung J2(2016) is powered by a quad core Spreadtrum chip with each core clocked at 1.5GHz each. This is markedly faster that the chip powering last year's Samsung J2 smartphone which came with an Exynos chip under the hood.

The benchmark listing further reveal that the all new budget J series smartphone dubbed Samsung J2 (2016) packs 1.5GB RAM on the inside. Apparently Samsung very often uses a 1.5GB RAM as compared to a 2GB one in their budget lineup of smartphones.

Just like its predecessor the Samsung J2 (2016) is expected to come with a 4.7 inch AMOLED display. However, it is rumored to come with a HD (1280x720p) this time around as compared to the qHD panel in the last gen model.

According to the benchmark listing, the Samsung J2 (2016) smartphone runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 with the company's latest TouchWiz UI on top. Just to recall, the predecessor of the Samsung J2 runs on Android Lollipop 5.1 out of the box.

Incidentally 23 units of Samsung J2 (2016) has been imported to India for testing purposes according to a listing on Zauba. As per the listing each smartphone is marked at Rs 6,868 which is rather similar to that of its predecessor. It is however worth noting that this leaked price isn't quite the retail price as it doesn't include taxes, import duty, logistics charges etc.
