Samsung Galaxy S8 to Follow Apple iPhone 7, Ditches Headphone Jack and Home Button
Samsung to follow Apple’s footsteps, Galaxy S8 may not have a 3.5mm jack.
Ever since Apple showcased the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus people have been criticising the company for doing away with the essential 3.5mm headphone jack. However, it appears as if the smartphone vendors like Samsung will follow suit and jettison the audio port in their upcoming smartphones.
A fresh report from SamMobile suggests that Samsung may get rid of the headphone jack on its much-awaited Galaxy S8. Doing so will allow the company to introduce new features thereby allowing it to differentiate from its counterparts.

Let's take a look at what new features the Galaxy S8 is rumoured to bring to the table.
No headphone jack
Akin to the Apple iPhone 7, the Samsung Galaxy S8 is expected to ditch the 3.5mm headphone jack. This would mean that the S8 could come with a slimmer design or a bigger battery.
Galaxy S8 will retain the 2K display but with better screen quality
Until now, we've been hearing that the Galaxy S8 will feature a 4K display. However, SamMobile's new report suggests otherwise. Reportedly, it will retain the same 2K (QHD) display as seen on its predecessor but will come with a better screen quality.
Unlike the Diamond PenTile layout on the Galaxy S7 (which accommodates 7,372,800 pixels), the S8 will come with a Standard RGB arrangement (which provides shelter for 11,059,200 pixels). As a result, the image quality will be even better and sharper. This layout will also provide a significant improvement in VR environments as well.
Higher screen-to-body ratio
Reiterating the older rumours, the report published by SamMobile claims that the company's upcoming flagship will have a higher screen-to-body ratio which is a subtle way of saying that the Galaxy S8 will feature a nearly bezel-less display.
Goodbye, physical home button!
The same report also suggests that the South Korean tech giant will be doing away with the physical home button. Instead, it will be embedded into the phone's display itself. Moreover, it is rumoured to be the company's first smartphone to feature an optical fingerprint recognition, possibly with the help of Qualcomm's ultrasonic biometric tech.
Other rumoured features
Apart from the aforementioned features, the Galaxy S8 is expected to house a new panel which will be made using more sturdier materials. Reportedly, the smartphone will come in two size variants - 5.7-inch and 6.2-inch both with a curved design. Also, unlike the Apple iPhone 7 Plus, the upcoming smartphone will stick to a single camera. It may also feature a dedicated AI-based assistant like Apple's Siri.
As far as the internal are concerned, the smartphone will be powered by a Snapdragon 835 chipset and an equivalent Exynos chipset both of which are based on 10nm process.
