This is the decade for smartphones in India and companies from China and the West have taken over the market completely. 2016 is expected to be another big year for smartphone innovation with most of the flagship models already out.

If you are looking to get a mid-range smartphone with a decent price tag, there are currently many options like OnePlus 2 and Redmi Note 3. But what is in store for the rest of the year? Here are 6 of the mid-range smartphones that are arriving in India in 2016.

OnePlus CEO, Pete Lau, recently confirmed that the company's next flagship smartphone - the OnePlus 3 - was in the works and would be out to the public by June 2016. It will be priced at mid-range levels with specifications like Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB RAM, front-facing speakers and a much sleeker form factor.

The ultra-successful Moto G series saw its last upgrade in the form of Moto G3 that came last year. The smartphone is now almost a year old and begging for an update. The Moto G4 is expected to arrive sooner than before, with listings already up on Zauba. It is expected to have specifications like a 5-inch display, 4GB of RAM and a really affordable price tag.

The Xiaomi Mi 5 was recently launched in India. Incidentally though, the Chinese smartphone brand stealthily launched yet another premium offering dubbed the Xiaomi Mi 4s in their homeland. This smartphone is a budget alternative to the flagship Mi 5 and comes with specs like Snapdragon 808 SoC, 3GB of RAM, 64GB internal storage and a 13MP camera sensor. This is expected to be the next mid-range smartphone that Xiaomi may soon bring to the Indian market.

The latest addition to the company's entry-level Redmi lineup, the Redmi 3, is priced at CNY 699 or around Rs. 7,000 in China. This is a budget smartphone with above average specifications like a 4,100 mAh battery, 2GB of RAM, Snapdragon 616 processor and a 5-inch display.

This smartphone is another one that can be expected to sell a lot in India after witnessing the eunaway success of the previous Redmi 1S and Redmi 2.

The ASUS Zenfone flagship range witnessed quite a boom last year with the company launching dozens of smartphone models under the range. But, the biggest of them all were the Zenfone 2 and the Zenfone 2 Deluxe.

According to the leaks and reports coming in, we can expect the successor to these smartphones, the Zenfone 3 and Zenfone 3 Deluxe, soon enough. Images have been leaked by the Red Dot design website that suggest a full metal casing on these new phones. The new features are expected to be a new metal casing, USB Type-C port, Snapdragon 820 chipset and metallic color options.
