Powerful Hardware
Touted as flagships, both the smartphones will arrive with powerful hardware under the hood. Xiaomi teased the Mi 5s two days ago with its AnTuTu score and it's insane with a number of 164119. However, the chipset as per the leaked reports will be the Snapdragon 821 along with massive 6GB of RAM. There might be a 4GB RAM variant as well.
The Google Pixel XL is not far behind and expected to feature the same Snapdragon 821 chip along with 4GB of RAM. However, it is worth noticing that the smaller variant Google Pixel is also expected to feature 4GB of RAM. Google might increase the RAM on Pixel XL to 6GB, but it is still unknown at this point of time.
Display
The Xiaomi Mi 5s will be a compact phone with 5.15-inch display same as its predecessor and will feature a QHD panel, going by the leaks. On the other hand, the Pixel XL will be much bigger with a 5.5-inch display and expected to feature the same QHD panel.

Same Battery Capacity!
Both the smartphones are expected to feature a 3,490mAh battery. Xiaomi is thinking to address the issues of battery life faced by many users with the Mi 5 and last year's Nexus 6P impressed many with its battery life
Better Software on Pixel XL
This is where the Google device gets a nod against its rival Mi 5s. As expected, the Pixel XL will ship with Android 7.1 out-of-the-box, but this year around, Google will be making some changes to the OS, which are exclusive to Pixel phones.
The Xiaomi Mi 5s, as usual, comes with the company's heavily skinned and latest MIUI 8, but still on Android Marshmallow. A couple of rumors suggested that it will ship with Android Nougat itself, but many votes were with Marshmallow.

Cameras
One big issue which was solved by Google in previous generation Nexus smartphones was the underwhelming camera performance and we expect the same will be continued this year as well. Benchmark reports suggested that the smartphone will feature a 12MP sensor on the rear and 8MP sensor on the front.
The Xiaomi Mi 5s, on the other hand, as teased by the company will feature 16MP dual rear camera to match its rivals Huawei and LG. Earlier reports also suggested the same for the Mi 5s. If it happens, the Mi 5s will beat the Google smartphone in the camera department.
