Just Launched: Xiaomi's First Phablet Comes With A Huge Battery, What Else?
After a good success in the smartphone arena, Xiaomi has unveiled its very first phablet today at an event in its homeland China. This Xiaomi Mi Max flagship runs on the company's MIUI 8 that is based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow that was also unveiled at the event.
The Xiaomi Mi Max will go on sale starting from May 17 in China via both online channels and Mi outlets. Here are the best features of the phablet that you should know.
6.44 inch large Sunlight Display
The Xiaomi Mi Max houses an enormous 6.44 inch full HD 1920x1080 pixel IPS display. This screen is quite huge for those who love big screen devices. It is coupled with Sunlight Display that renders accurate colors even in bright light conditions.

Hexa-core or Octa-core processor?
The company has unveiled the device with two processor options. One variant of the Mi Max will have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 hexa-core processor with Cortex A53 cores and Cortex A72 cores.
The other variant of the Xiaomi Mi Max will be equipped with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor. The Adreno 510 graphics is used in this device.
Xiaomi Mi Max comes in many storage variants
The Mi Max comes in three different storage options. The hexa-core model comes with 32 GB internal storage space and it will be teamed up with 3 GB of RAM.
The octa-core variant will have 64 GB of default memory capacity and 3 GB of RAM and a high-end variant with 128 GB storage and a larger 4 GB RAM for better multi-tasking.
Furthermore, there is a micro SD card slot in the device to facilitate expandable memory support up to 128 GB.
16 MP with dual-tone LED flash will lure buyers
The Mi Max features a 16 MP main snapper at its back that is teamed up with dual-tone LED flash for great snaps and videos even at night.
Also, it has a 5 MP snapper at the front with 85-degree wide angle lens that will let you click wide angle selfies.
Supports 4G LTE with VoLTE
The Xiaomi Mi Max comes with 4G LTE connectivity along with the VoLTE support. It has many other connectivity aspects including Wi-Fi, GPS+GLONASS, and Bluetooth 4.
The hybrid dual SIM feature that doubles the second SIM card slot as the memory card slot.
Battery lasts over a day
Xiaomi has included a massive 4,850 mAh battery in the Xiaomi Mi Max that can last for over a day meeting the needs of the intense users. The Qualcomm Quick Charge feature enables quick charging.
Full metal unibody design
The Mi Max boasts a full metal unibody design that gives it an elegant look. Also, there is a fingerprint sensor at its back. It has been launched in silver, gold and light gray color variants. The metal body and 2.5D glass surface enhance the look of the +gently curved edges.
The device is too thin measuring just 7.5 mm in thickness and it weighs in at 203 grams that is just slightly heavier than the models with 5.5 inch displays.
MIUI 8 has a revamped Galaxy app
The MIUI 8 that the Xiaomi Mi Max runs on has a revamped Gallery app that lets users add filters and stickers, crop, and create a music video. There will be Quick share controls as well. In addition, it is claimed to include video editing.

The 32 GB hexa-core variant is priced at 1,499 yuan (approx. Rs 15,500).
The 64 GB octa-core processor variant is priced at 1,699 yuan (approx. Rs 17,500) and the 128 GB octa-core variant carries a price tag of 1,999 yuan (approx. Rs 20,500).
Besides the Xiaomi Mi Max and MIUI 8, the company also launched the second-generation wearable device called Mi Band 2 and iHealth Box that will measure the medical related metrics.
