If you think Apple's former CEO John Sculley is on a vacation, than you are absolutely wrong as the latest report online suggests that he is planning to release a new brand of smartphones in India soon.
These phones will not be placed to compete with the high-end smartphones that are currently available in India but will make its way into the budget category. Precisely, the handsets are said to be priced between Rs. 5,000 and Rs. 15,000.
But John Sculley is not the only person who will be responsible for launching the new smartphone brand in India. In fact, Singapore-based Inflexionpoint, a company at which Sculley is a founding partner at, will be funding the brand. While in India the new brand will be headed by current Micromax smartphone division head, Ajay Sharma reports BGR.
But since there are not much details pertaining to the smartphones' specs and features as of now, it is hard to talk about them. Moreover, even the OS the new brand is going to use has not been disclosed as of now but it is likely to use Android.
In terms of availability, the company is reportedly said to launch the new smartphones and a few feature phones, sometime in April this year. The names of the devices are also not mentioned until now.
