Smartphones for all age groups are now available in the market except for the elderly. There are child phones, phones intended for teens etc. Now Fujitsu is all set to fill the age void by releasing a smart phone intended for the seniors.
Nothing much about the smart phone is known as for now. The phone is said to be part of the Raku Raku phone line up. This line up has been in the smart phone segment for as early as 1999. They are made especially for the Japanese network provider Docomo.
So how will a smart phone intended for the seniors stand apart from the crowd? For one thing the phones design will be a bit different in the sense that it would concentrate on practicality rather than the looks. The key factor in the design will be ease of use. So we cannot expect fancy touch screen phones or so. The phone will have large alpha numeric key pads and big displays. The fonts in the display will be very large so that they can be read with ease.
The actual design of the phone is not revealed as for now. But the phone is rumoured to come in a flip phone design. So the device may contain dual display. The main display will be inside of the flip case and the secondary display in outer shell. The phone will also be dust and water proof. The manufacturing materials will be strong and durable so that the phone will be able to take a drop or few without any trouble. Considering the features and specs the phone might have only the basic of functionalities.
So you will be able to make calls and other than that it might only have a multimedia player, an inbuilt FM radio etc. So whether there would be an integrated camera, is not clear. But considering the fact that nowadays even feature phone comes with in-built cameras, it is possible that this new phone will also come with one. The phone will run on android operating system but it will be completely overhauled for ease of use. Which version of android it will run on is not clear.
The new Raku Raku smart phone from Fujitsu is expected to be rolled out in the near future itself. We might be able to get a price quote and an insight into the specs close to the release date.
