When Samsung Galaxy Gear was launched at IFA last year, the smartwatch was flaunted powered by Android operating system. However, a new set of reports about the successor of the smartwatch, dubbed as Galaxy Gear 2 have pointed that it will be unleashed at MWC 2014 running Tizen OS.
A report by USA Today based on their trusted sources claim that the "South Korean company is slated to launch an updated smartwatch running the HTML 5-based Tizen OS at the Mobile World Congress a few days from now."
For those who are unaware, Tizen is Samsung's own smartphone operating system and there might be a possibility that Samsung wants to gain some foothold in the operating system industry with the launch of Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 stocked with Tizen OS.
If rumors are to be believed Galaxy Gear 2 is said to sport a thinner and lighter design this time accompanied by a flexible OLED screen. The smartwatch is also said to integrate some health and fitness features to compete against the likes of Google Glass. Well, whatever might be the case, we need to wait and watch until next week to see if Galaxy Gear 2 is actually set for launch at MWC 2014 or not. What do you think?
