Gionee has been one of those primary names in the handset business to have come straight out of China and into the Indian smartphone market. And already the company has been lauded for it extra slim phone profile. Now it seems the company is receiving added credits for its achievements.

According to Gionee on Thursday, the new Elife S5.1, which comes with a 5.1mm body, has been inducted into Guinness Book of World Records as the slimmest smartphone in the world. Now that's quite an achivement!!

The Gionee Elife S5.1 was previously Launched in China for around $325 (Rs. 20,000 approximately) and runs Android 4.3 with Amigo 2.0 UI on-board. The handset is currently set for an early November India release.

Form Factor
The Elife S5.1 comes with a thin 5.1mm shell comprising both glass and metal. The handset has a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 720x1280 pixels .
Processor and RAM
The handset runs on 1.2GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, and is supported by 1GB of RAM.
Camera and LTE
Gionee's Elife S5.1 comes with a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The company is also promising LTE connectivity, although support for the same in India is still unknown.
Battery and Everything Else
Gionee's Elife S5.1 offers a 2100mAh battery and will be available in Black, White, Pink, and Mint Green colour variants. It features 16GB of non-expandable built-in storage.
