Gionee is still looking to make an impact in the Indian smartphone market in the image of Xiaomi and others. And that may soon come true with the company now set to release what's set to become the world's slimmest handset. We are talking about the new Gionee Elife S5.1, of course.
The upcoming handset is set to sport great thinness. Gionee has surpassed its own standards and this time it's producing a smartphone whose sides measure a brilliant 0.2-inches thin (5.15mm).
The handset's exact dimensions measure at 5.5 inches x 2.65 inches x 0.2 inches (139.8mm×67.4mm×5.15mm). In fact, the handset's sides offer the maximum thinness, while the upper and lower sides of the handset are slightly wider.
Apart from that, the handset is basically a compact and beautiful phone with even more evolved looks compared to that of the previously released S5.5 handset. However, most users will be sad by the fact that the company has chosen quite mid-range specs to be sported in the handset.
But then again, what are the most important things to know about the new handset? Here's a look at the top 5 things that you will need to know for the Gionee Elife S5.1. You could check out the handset in its entirety via the pics here.
As it seems from the images, the AMOLED display for the device has been taken down from 5.0 inches to 4.8 inches diagonally. The resolution has been reduced from 1080p to 720p, resulting in a pixel density of 306ppi.
The Gionee Elife S5.1 handset comes with more or less industry standard camera. To be more precise, the rear camera has an 8MP sensor, while the front cam has a great 5MP sensor. That means both your usual imaging and selfie needs will be met.
The Gionee Elife S5.1 will arrive sporting Qualcomm's quad-core Snapdragon 400 clocked to 1.2GHz and paired with 1GB of RAM. So again, decent enough specs to make it your first smartphone.
The Gionee Elife S5.1 will be arriving with an internal storage capacity of 16GB, although it will indeed miss out on the option of external memory increase via an SD card. On the OS front, it will come with Android 4.3 with Gionee's own Amigo 2.0 interface laid on top.
The Gionee Elife S5.1 will start selling this month in China, but the price hasn't been revealed. However, we are guessing that it won't take much time before the handset finally arrives with a potential price tag and release date in India.
