Gionee Elife S5.5: World's Thinnest Octa Core Phone Now Launched in India

China-based smartphone manufacturers Gionee, which started its operations in India recently has already made a note-worthy impression among Indian customers. With the devices like Elife E6 and Elife E7 the company has already proved its impact among the Indian smartphone consumers. Now today in an event in Goa, India, Gionee officially launched its latest smartphone the Elife S5.5 at Rs. 22,999. The smartphoen will be available starting April 27th. It should be noted that this is the world's thinnest phone with 5.5 mm thickness.

The device was actually unveiled at the International Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014, one of the most important event for tech industry. The smartphone is equally potential as the other two aforementioned devices and will likely stand against almost all the other potent smartphone from players like Samsung, LG, SOny and more.

In terms of specs, the slimmest phone comes with a metal chassis. It packs a 5.0-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display with corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.

It is powered by a 1.7GHz Octa-Core MediaTek MT6592 processor with Mali 450-MP4 GPU coupled with 2GB LPDDR3 RAM and 16GB of internal memory. It runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) with Amigo 2.0 UI.

We have already seen the superior imaging technology used in the company's previous devices and this one also features somewhat similar camera features which include a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with a single LED Flash. Moreover, the rear-facing camera is capable of recording videos in Full HD format. It also has a 5MP front-facing shooter. The makers have added a 2300mAh battery fitted inside.

Other connectivity options include 3G, Wi-Fi, 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi direct, Bluetooth 4.0 , A-GPS, USB OTG and more. The smartphone supports 3G network working in six different bands and is also planning to bring out the LTE version of the device by June. However, details on the LTE variant of the device is pretty scarce as of now. It is powered by 2300 mAh battery.
