Earlier this month, GizBot ran an exclusive story which said that Chinese smartphone maker Gionee would release its latest GPad 4 smartphone in the Indian market this month at the price of Rs. 18,999. Now the device is out for sale from online retailer Snapdeal at the same estimated price. The smartphone, however, had appeared online back in November 2013.

The device will look to compete with Lenovo and Huawei, both of which also are Chinese manufacturers. Apart from these two, Gionee can't ignore the presence of Karbonn, Micromax and Xolo in the Indian market.

The device comes with a 5.7-inch one-glass solution (OGS) display offering an HD resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.

It comes powered with a 1.5 GHz quad-core MediaTek 6589T processor and PowerVR SGX 544MP2 GPU coupled with 1GB of RAM. And it runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) OS.

Gionee has incorporated a massive13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, BSI sensor and f/2.2 aperture in the phone along with a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with 28mm wide angle lens, which will be more than enough for taking selfies and making video calls.

Internal storage capacity of the device is rated at 16GB. Additionally, it can also be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card.

Connectivity options remain regular with support of 3G, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS/A-GPS options. Apart from that, it is a Dual SIM handset with dual standby mode.

The Gionee GPad 4 comes with an Aluminium Unibody design and measures 163.5×81.3×7.95mm. It comes powered by a more than average 3200 mAh battery. The device also comes with in-built Digital Theatre System (DTS) Sound. The Gionee Gpad G4 comes in White and Black color variants with several software features such as pause video playback by looking away, Gionee Xender app and more.

Competition

The new handset from Gionee looks pretty attractive as far as the specs are concerned. However, the densely populated market in India already has become a host to many such devices. Thus the competition will surely be as tougher as it always was. Among all the devices, Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos, Karbonn Titanium X, Intex Aqua i7, Lenovo P780, XOLO Q1000S, Micromax Canvas Doodle 2 A240, Lava Iis Pro 30 and Intex Aqua Octa would surely be the latest and most tough competitors against the Gionee GPad 4 smartphone. All these aforementioned devices come at the same price range.
