American PC giant HP may not be having a good time, as far as far as slow adoption of Windows-powered notebooks in the western market. At the same time, HP had been pushing the usage of Android-ready tablets in its native and select markets for quite some time.
To make sure consumers get an unparalleled experience across different platform, HP might come up with a 6-inch tablet, codenamed "HP SLATE 6 " in the near future. In late last month, The Information reported that HP would be announcing affordable 6 and 7-inch slates for the emerging markets like India and China.
Also, there is a possibility to see the newer devices to be priced under $250 or Rs. 14,000 in select markets. The latest buzz claims that HP's upcoming 6-inch phablet has been spotted on Bluetooth SIG, dubbed HP Slate 6 Voice Tab. Amusingly, the HP Slate 6 is a "Voice Tab". It may sound pompous; however, the upcoming tablet/phablet will have voice calling facility.
Subsequently, GizBot also spotted the said device with a model number (HP Slate 6 6001RA VoiceTab) on Zauba, a website that basically tracks imports and exports to and from India; it indicated HP has already started to import the device into India.
Based on the shipment data, HP had imported an estimated 700 units of Slate 600 VoiceTab on January 2, 2014. Also, the device may come in 8GB / 16GB internal capacities, and will be powered by Android OS.
