HTC Announces Desire 820s Powered by 64-bit Octa-Core SoC From MediaTek

Just recently, HTC Desire 820's new variant dubbed as Desire 820us was spotted at the Chinese certification site - TENAA. Now, the Taiwanese premium smartphone manufacturer has announced a new variant of the same handset.

Called the Desire 820s, the latest offering from the maker of the One smartphone has maintained all the goodies of the regular Desire 820 smartphone and has added few extra things in it. One of the differences is that the new one uses a 1.7GHz Octa-Core 64-bit MediaTek (MT6572 likely) processor instead of Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor in the Desire 820. It comes in a range of colors and supports DotView covers.

HTC Desire 820s: Key Specifications

The HTC Desire 820s sports a 5.5-inch display offering a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The panel is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

The latest variant of the Desire 820 is powered by a 64-bit octa core MediaTek chipset clocked at 1.7GHz. For multi-tasking users will get 2GB of RAM as well. The new offering from HTC runs on Android 4.4 with HTC Sense 6 UI.

The smartphone houses 16GB of internal memory, which is further expandable up to 128GB with microSD card.

The new HTC Desire 820s is equally potential in camera segment if compared to the other Desire 820 variants. It employs 13MP rear camera with LED Flash, f/2.2 aperture, BSI sensor, 28mm lens, 1080p video recording and an 8 MP front-facing snapper which is capable of shooting video at 1080p.

Connectivity options include 4G LTE / 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11a/b/g/n (2.4 & 5 GHz), Bluetooth 4.0 with aptX, GPS and it is a Dual SIM smartphone.

HTC has also included a regular hardware like BoomSound and a Dual frontal stereo speakers with built-in amplifiers.

The newly announced HTC Desire 820s is powered by a 2600 mAh battery.

The new HTC Desire 820s has been announced in China at the moment and there's no word on the pricing or the availability of the device as of now.
