Pricing & Availability

As of now, there is no word on the pricing and availability of the handset in India, but tech experts predict that it will make its way into the market early next year.

Competition with Samsung Galaxy Note 2

HTC Butterfly being a 5 inch handset, it can be categorized as a phablet with potential rivals including LG Optimus Vu, Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Apple iPhone 5. However, Galaxy Note 2 being the hottest selling device in the phablet category with a sales figure of 5 million in three months might definitely will feel insecure with the announcement of Butterfly with a 1080p display having 440 ppi.

Detailing on Galaxy Note 2, the phablet based on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS has a 5.5 inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display with 1280 x 720 pixel resolution, improved S-Pen stylus 1.6GHz quad core processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB/32GB/32GB on-board storage, micro SD card slot supporting 32GB, 8MP rear camera, 1.9MP front camera, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, DLNA, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth with A2DP and a massive 3,100 mAh Li-ion battery.

At the same time, Galaxy Note 2 is equipped with the unique advantage of S-pen digitizer. However, the HTC offering lacks one, which is considered quite essential by most users for a large screen devices.

Anyways, in the end it all depends on the performance, pricing and consumer feedback are the major selling points for any device and hence, the tech world will have to wait for the release of Butterfly to analyze these factors.
