Almost exactly a month after the release of the Desire 816, HTC will soon launch its new mid-range Android phone, the Desire 516, onto Indian market. The HTC Desire 516 was launched in China a few months back, and now it seems that the company may have plans to release the handset for Indian consumers.
There's little doubt that we will be seeing the HTC Desire 516 soon however, after the company imported a few dummy units of the phone to Indian shores. According to a report published on Monday, the Taiwanese giant HTC has imported some units of the Desire 516w, alongside a few dummy units of the Desire 516. The import price of the Desire 516w is Rs. 5,333. Reportedly, the unannounced phone will be launched under Rs. 10,000 price slab.
It is widely believed that an astonishing 3300 dummy units have been imported in a different set of batches. Those dummy units will be later sent out to nationwide retailers. Basically, it's a normal exercise conducted by almost every handset manufacturer these days, so as to determine the interest of consumers in the upcoming handset.
GizBot expects India to be among the few countries that will get to see the launch of the Desire 516. No word on pricing.
