The company had already sent out invites for an event that was scheduled to happen in Delhi on July 11, where HTC would unveil its new handsets. And although the invitation never mentioned any names, it was widely believed that the devices would be the new Desire 616 and the One E8.
And now, true to its promise, the Taiwan-based tech giant HTC has finally unveiled the Desire 616 and the One E8 in India
Keeping our eyes peeled out for the Desire 616 handset for the time being, the smartphone joins the long list of smartphones that offers a powerful octa core processor. So you get the power of eight from a branded manufacturer, while others have to make do with a quad core processor.
Going through the specifications offered for the HTC Desire 616, the handset comes with a 5-inch 720p display and is powered by a 1.4GHz octa-core CPU (ARM Cortex A7 octa-core architecture) coupled with 1GB of RAM. It runs on Android OS, v4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) layered with HTC Sense 5.5 UI.
The phone has an 8-megapixel camera on the rear side and a 2-megapixel front facing shooter as well. Connectivity options include: Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi b/g/n, GPS, GPRS/ EDGE and 3G. It houses 4GB of internal memory, and a microSD card slot for further increase up to 32GB. And it is powered by a 2,000mAh battery.
The Desire 616 dual SIM is currently set to be available in Dark Grey and Pearl White, and will be available for a price tag of Rs. 16,900 starting next week.
