The spec rumors are starting early on HTC's next-generation One M9 Plus phablet. The purported device, which will make its debut on April 8 in Beijing, is expected to feature a 5.2-inch QHD display and a 20-megapixel rear-facing camera.
HTC is all set to launch two new premium devices next month in Beijing and details about the HTC One M9 Plus have been leaked ahead of global debut.
The latest leak comes in the form of the leaked specifications for the so-called HTC One M9 Plus. According to a report published in French tech site Nowhereelse.fr, the HTC One M9 Plus is expected to ship with a display that will be larger than the HTC One 9. It was initially believed that the One M9 Plus would come with a 5.5-inch QHD display. The site claims the upcoming high-end device will likely ship with a 5.2-inch QHD display.
Not just that, the phone will be powered with an MT6795T MediaTek 64-bit octa-core processor and a PowerVR Rogue G6200 GPU, instead of a Snapdragon 810 processor. That's a big change from the HTC One M9, which uses Qualcomm's flagship Snapdragon 810 chipset.
The Snapdragon 810 has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. The latest chipset has overheating issues. That could be the reason why HTC switched to a MediaTek chipset, instead of a Snapdragon 810.
Earlier reports suggested that Samsung had ditched Snapdragon 810 in favor of Exynos 7420 SoC for the Galaxy S6, while recent rumors hinted that the overheating issues with the Snapdragon 810 have been solved.
Meanwhile, the HTC One M9 Plus is said to come 3GB of RAM, a 20-megapixel camera, and 32GB of built-in storage. Furthermore, it's going to support a fingerprint scanner, a special feature that hasn't been includes on the HTC One M9.
What's more, HTC will once again try to convince users the real advantages of the dual-camera setup. Latest leaked pictures show the upcoming handset to flaunt the dual-camera setup, like the HTC One M8.
HTC One M9 Plus - Our Predictions
We've been hearing a lot about the HTC One M9 Plus. Early rumors showed that the HTC One M9 Plus would replace the HTC One M8, which made its debut in the beginning of last year. Now, it seems that the HTC One M9 Plus is going to take on the likes of the Galaxy Note 4 and the iPhone 6 Plus.
In 2013 the company launched the HTC One Max with a large screen and a fingerprint scanner. Unfortunately, it was a rather heavy and wasn't that successful.
HTC has been known for churning some of best looking device. Sadly though, the company lacks enough marketing budget to take on the likes of Samsung. Right now, HTC all needs to pump its resources in promoting the One M9, instead of coming up with yet hardware with more or less similar specifications.
