While Google has already rolled out the second maintenance update for Android Kitkat 4.4.4 running Nexus 5 smartphone, Taiwan-based smartphone maker HTC has just announced that the KitKat v4.4.3 would roll out for the international variant of the One M8 "late next week."
The news come from a tweet by HTC's Vice President of Management, Mo Versi as shown below. Versi further added that the version 4.4.3 update would include security fixes from the Android 4.4.4 version, which is again good news. However, it leads to just one conclusion, that the company might skip the Android 4.4.4 update for the device and move straight to the Android L-release.
It should be noted that the update is limited to the international unlocked version of the phone, as well as its developer edition. In the US, the carrier versions of the phone for AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon will also receive the update. Sprint users have been lucky and are already rocking Android 4.4.3 on their One (M8).
HTC One M8: Key Specifications
HTC One M8 comes packed with a 5-inch Full HD display. The device itself runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat with the new HTC Sense 6.0 UI and revamped BlinkFeed layered on top of it. The new HTC One M8 is powered by a quad core Snapdragon 801 processor that's assisted with a 2GB RAM.
Other specs include: 16/32GB internal memory, MicroSD slot that supports expansion up to 128 GB, dual LED rear camera with dual flash, 5 MP front facing shooter and it is powered by a non-removable 2,600 mAh battery.
You can also check out for the update manually if you don't receive the update by the end of next week. For that, you need to Settings > About phone > Software update.
