After a host of leaks several times in the past, HTC has just announced the rumored One (M8) running on Windows Phone 8.1.1 with Cortana. However, at the moment the company has only released the handset in the US via Verizon.
The Latest HTC One M8 Windows Smartphone Full Specification
In the US, the HTC One M8 will sell exclusively through Verizon Wireless. The smartphone has gone on sale in the US for a promotional price of $99.99 with a two-year contract. So far, HTC hasn't revealed information on the global availability and pricing of the smartphone. Customers in the US can also opt to buy the phone at $29.99 per month via Verizon Edge. Since the device also supports HTC Dot View Case and screen protector, customers can also buy the same at an offer price of $25.
HTC One (M8) Windows Phone: Key Specifications
HTC One (M8) Windows Phone variant adopts the specs of the regular Android variant. Thus, you will get to see the same 5.0-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD display, 2.3 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with Adreno 330 GPU. The chipset is coupled with 2GB of RAM and it obviously runs Windows Phone 8.1.1 with latest voice assistant- Cortana.
Very much like the Android version, the One M8 for Windows also employs a dual rear camera set-up which include an UltraPixel primary rear camera with dual LED Flash, BSI Sensor,F/2.0 aperture and 28 mm lens and a secondary rear camera to capture depth information. At the front, there is a competitive 5 MP snapper.
The smartphone houses 32GB of internal memory, which is expandable up to 128GB with MicroSD card. Same connectivity options are used in the phone, including: 4G LTE / 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 a/ac/b/g/n (2.4 and 5 GHz), Bluetooth 4.0 with aptX codec,NFC and GPS with GLONASS and also an Infrared remote control for handling appliances like TV, etc.
Also HTC's regular hardware HTC BoomSound with Dual front-facing stereo speakers with built-in amplifiers can be found in the phone. The phone also retains Blinkfeed feature and support for the HTC Dot View case.
Weighing in at 160 grams, the latest Windows Phone 8.1.1 draws its energy from a 2600 mAh battery.
So far, Nokia has been one of the most potential player in the Windows Phone market with its range of high-end Lumia devices. However, with the advent of the latest HTC One M8 in Windows Phone flavor, Nokia's flagship Windows Phone including Lumia 1520 and even the popular Lumia 1020 are already under a threat.
