While chances of the latter device escaping Asia are slim, a mysterious plastic variant dubbed "M9e" brings us new hope, courtesy of China's TENAA certification database.

According to a report from Engadget, which was the first to spot the device, it has almost the same specs as that of the One M9+: MediaTek chipset with 2.2GHz octa-core processor, 5.2-inch Quad HD display, 3GB RAM, 20MP main camera, UltraPixel front shooter, microSD card slot, and fingerprint reader. However, there is no Duo Camera.
What's uncertain is whether the IR blaster is still present at the top, but regardless, it's safe to assume that HTC will be offering this plastic device with a more affordable price -- probably one that's not far off from the even bigger E9+.
As there are low chances of the Htc One M9+ to be launched outside of Asia, the company might have planned the Htc One M9e specially for other countries in the West.
