It's not been long since HTC announced its flagship device the One M8 in the Indian market and the company has already announced the mini variant of the handset dubbed as One Mini 2. The HTC One mini 2 is offered in Gunmetal Gray, Glacial Silver, and Amber Gold, similar to the HTC One (M8). It will go on sale first in EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa) countries from the end of May 2014 and in North Asia from June 2014. The price of the handset is yet to be revealed by the company.
In terms of specs, the HTC One mini 2 comes with a 4.5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD display. It is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor coupled with 1GB of RAM. And it runs on Android 4.4 (KitkKat) with Sense 6, and HTC BlinkFeed.
The handset lacks on the ultrapixel camera but features a regular 13MP rear camera with LED Flash, BSI Sensor, f/2.2 aperture which is capable of 1080p video recording. Also a 5MP HD front-facing camera with 1080p video recording will be found in the handset.
Native storage capacity is seated at 16GB, and it can be further expandable up to 128GB via microSD card.
HTC One mini 2 features a wide range of connectivity options like 4G LTE / 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS with GLONASS and NFC.
The handset which measures 10.6mm thick and weighs 137 grams is powered by 2100 mAh battery and it also features HTC's regular audio hardware the BoomSound. Sadly, it also lacks HTC Zoe and Zoe features.
The latest HTC One mini 2 will have to fight against smartphones like Sony Xperia Z1 compact. However, mini variants of the flagship devices of this year is yet to be launched, thus HTC might have to face all of them. To be precise, the probable rivals against the newly launched HTC One Mini 2 will be Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini and Sony Xperia Z2 mini.
