With the HTC One (M8) already on store shelves, the new rumors are pointing at the launch of the miniature version of its older brother. The past couple of months have seen HTC launch mini version of its flagship smartphone and it's looking like this year will be no different.

HTC might have a carved a niche in the high-end of the smartphone market, but the company so far has failed to set a benchmark in the mid-range category. The company launched the mini version of the HTC One M7 last year; however, the product failed to catch up to rivals in the same segment.

The HTC One Mini 2 will be the second iteration of its product line, while nothing much can be said at the this point of time yet leaks and rumors have started to paint a true picture.

The HTC One Mini 2 will be soon out in the market, as claimed by two French retailers.

French sites, Systema Store and Multitronic, currently list the phone for somewhere around 520 Euros or about Rs. 42,620. One of those retailers expects to have the device on May 14, which simply means the release date is nearby. Right now, neither e-retailer has the device in stock. Looks like the HTC One Mini 2 could be announced any time soon from now.

Talking about its speculated specs, the HTC One Mini 2 is said to come with a 4.5-inch 720p HD display, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB/32GB of internal memory, a microSD card slot, a 13MP rear-facing camera, and a 5MP front-facing camera, amongst other features. The device will ship with the Android 4.4 Kitkat out of the box with Sense 6.0 UI slapped on top of it.

Could HTC take a leaf out of Sony's book for the HTC One Mini 2? Only time will tell.

Back in February, notorious leaker @evleaks revealed that the HTC One Mini 2 would have a 4.5 inch compared to its bigger sibling's 5 inch display. Moreover, the M8's mini variant would sport a 720p display.

The mini version of HTC One (M8) should be taller than the last year's HTC One Mini, PhoneArena notes. Also, at the same time, the device would feature a 1.4GHz quad-core processor powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, and a microSD card slot.

HTC is not only looking to take the secondary camera sensor on the back out of the phone but also get rid of the front-facing UltraPixel camera, as claimed by PhoneArena. Instead, the Taiwan based company is going to offer a 13MP shooter on the back of the HTC One Mini 2, which sounds definitely much better.

According to a new report, Taiwanese giant HTC could launch the HTC One Mini 2 in its native homeland sometime later this month. There's no word yet on what the phone might retail but the original HTC One Mini was launched at Rs. 36,790 in India, so logically speaking the HTC One Mini M8 would cost the same.
