Just this morning there were report floating around HTC One Mini getting certification by Chinese authorities and now HTC has already made the handset official few hours ago. It is obvious that the HTC One mini is a physically smaller variant of HTC One.
Hence, going by the specs, HTC One mini comes packed with a slightly smaller screen measuring 4.3-inch display with a resolution of 720x1280 pixel with the pixel density of 341 ppi. It will boast the new HTC Sense UI alongg with the HTC BlinkFeed homescreen. Inside HTC One Mini, there's a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset with 1.4GHz dual-core Krait 300 CPU, Adreno 305 graphics and is also supported by 1GB RAM. The internal memory is 16GB and sadly, there isn't a microSD card slot for expanding it. The HTC One mini runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with HTC's Sense 5 UI layer on top.
HTC One mini sports a 4MP UltraPixel rear camera similar to that of its bigger sibling HTC One. The only difference between them is the lack of optical image stabilization on the mini variant but the mini One still comes with HTC's ImageChip 2 and a BSI sensor of 1/3" size. The front-facing camera is 1.6MP and sports a BSI sensor that can shoot 720p videos.
Connectivity options on the HTC One mini include LTE, Bluetooth 4.0 with aptX enabled, Wi-FI a/b/g/n with DLNA and GPS + GLONASS. HTC has provided a range of sensors like gyro, accelerometer, proximity and ambient light sensors. And speaking of its front, the HTC One mini has adopted the One's frontal stereo speakers. Moreover, each of them has its own dedicated amplifier, delivering rich, clear, distortion-free audio. Obviously, Beats Audio is on board with its clever audio enhancement tech.
Talking about the dimension the smartphone measures 132 x 63.2 x 9.25 and weighs 122 grams. The Mini is powered by a 1,800mAh Li-polymer battery and according to the HTC estimates is good for up to 13.2 hours of 3G talk time and 692 hours of 3G stand-by.
The HTC One mini is speculated to launch in select markets including India in August 2013 which means that the handset will be available by September globally. Moreover, there are two color variants of the HTC One Mini that were announced including Glacial Silver and Stealth Black.
What About HTC Desire 500?
In the other set of reports, HTC Desire 500 which was in rumors last month has again hit the online world with a news that says it is going to appear soon on July 23 this year. The news come from the online publication called ePrice that has posted an invitation that announces the HTC Desire 500 in Taipei on the aforementioned date.
But like most of the leaks and rumors, the update doesn't come with any other information on the specifications of the device. However, the model number hints that size and price of the handset. It is speculated that it would be smaller and cheaper than the already existing Desire 600.
Moreover, the HTC Desire 500 could be the mini or stripped down variant of the previous Desire 600. The Desire 500 is reportedly speculated to come with a dual SIM support and supposedly come with an Android Jelly Bean OS.
