HTC One S Online Price Slashes to Rs 24999: 5 Rival Smartphones Available in Same Range in India

If you are planning to buy one of the HTC smartphones and waiting to avail an attractive discount for the same, this is the right time for the purchase. Online retailer Snapdeal has listed HTC One S at a discounted price of Rs 24,999.

 

Launched initially in June 2012 at Rs 33,590, One S has already received a couple of price cuts. Soon after the debut the handset witnessed a price drop and was available at Rs 28,900 and back in October 2012, it received another price cut costing Rs 25,900.

To remind about specs, HTC One S packs a 4.3 inch capacitive touchscreen display with 540 x 960 pixel resolution, an over-clocked 1.7 GHz Snapdragon S3 processor, Beats Audio integration, 8MP rear camera with auto focus and flash 1080p HD video recording and VGA front-facing camera. Moreover, One S has 1GB RAM, 16GB internal memory and 1,650 mAh battery.

Though One S has been launched with Ice Cream Sandwich OS, it has received the official Android 4.1 Jelly Bean upgrade.

After the latest price slash, One S is available online at Rs 24,999 and hence, it will offer a tough challenge to all the other smartphones that are available in the similar price bracket in India. Further, having received the Jelly Bean upgrade, the One S seems to be well equipped in terms of software as well and hence, it can compete with all the other high-end and latest smartphones that are launched with or upgraded to Jelly Bean OS, Windows Phone 8 and iOS 6. Hence, Gizbot has come up with 5 rival smartphones that will face trouble owing to One S.

Samsung Galaxy S2

Samsung Galaxy S2

Launched in 2011, Galaxy S2 has received numerous price cuts and several software upgrades. Recently, Galaxy S2 received the official Android 4.1 Jelly Bean upgrade making it compete with One S.

Specwise, S2 flaunts a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED Plus capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, 1.2GHz dual core Cortex A9 processor, 8MP rear camera, 2MP front camera for video calling, 8GB/16GB internal storage, 1GB RAM, micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB additional storage, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v4.0, micro USB 2..0 and a 1,650 mAh Li-Ion battery.

Priced at Rs 25,900, Galaxy S2 comes with a NFC and micro SD card slot, but HTC One S comes at a relatively less price.

Sony Xperia S

Xperia S - the flagship smartphone of Sony in 2012 has also received the Jelly Bean upgrade and it comes with a 4.3 inch capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, 1.5GHz dual core Snapdragon processor, 12MP rear camera, 1.3MP front camera, 32GB internal storage, 1GB RAM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC and a 1,750 mAh battery.

Priced at Rs 25,990 approximately, Xperia S is not as lightweight as One S, which has a better display.

Nokia Lumia 820

Released into the Indian market in January and available at Rs 26,650 approximately, Lumia 820 packs a 4.3 inch AMOLED ClearBlack capacitive touchscreen display with 800 x 480 pixels. The handset has a 1.5GHz dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB internal memory, 8MP camera with the PureView technology, a VGA front camera video calling, NFC and 1,650 mAh Li-ion battery.

Though Lumia 820 has better battery backup and comes with NFC, it does not support FM Radio and being a Windows smartphone, it has fewer apps as compared to One S.

Recently, HTC 8S received a price cut and is available online at Rs 17,799. The handset houses a 4 inch Super LCD display with 480 x 800 pixel resolution, 1GHz dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, 512MB RAM, 16GB internal memory, 5MP rear camera, VGA front camera, micro SD card slot for expandable memory support, 1,700 mAh Li-Po battery, Beats Audio integration, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi features.

Again, based on Windows Phone 8, HTC 8S will support fewer apps as compared to Android based One S.

Apple iPhone 4

Apple iPhone 4, which was launched in 2010 is quite an old variant of the smartphone and hence, it has received a lot of price drops. As a result, iPhone 4 is available in India at a price of Rs 25,990.

iPhone 4 sports a 3.5 inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 640 x 960 pixels, 1GHz Cortex A8 processor, upgradeable to iOS 6.1.3, 8GB/32GB/64GB internal storage, 512MB RAM, 5MP rear camera, VGA front camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G and a 1,420 mAh battery.

With a larger AMOLED display and better camera performance, HTC One S couple be a rival to the iOS based iPhone 4.
