Lenovo, the Chinese manufacturer, who is in the first position when it comes to PC market recently entered the smartphone market with the launch of five handsets in its IdeaPhone lineup including A60+, S880, P700i, K860 and S560 in the price range of Rs 6,499 to Rs 28,499.
Now, it seems like Lenovo is prepping to compete with hot sellers – Samsung Galaxy S3 and HTC One X, the two handsets that have recently received the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean upgrade with IdeaPhone P770.
A recent Tech 2 report confirms that Lenovo will be uncovering IdeaPhone P770 in India in December. The report also claims that the handset could be priced around Rs 15,000 to Rs 18,000 and that Lenovo could hike price as P770 comes with solid specifications.
What features to expect?
Earlier reports claim that the handset will sport a 4.5 inch IPS display, dual core 1.2GHz processor, 1GB RAM, 4GB internal memory, micro SD card slot supporting expandable storage up to 32GB, 5MP rear camera, VGA front camera, 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS and a whopping 3,500 mAh battery delivering up to 29 hours of talk time.
Competition with Samsung Galaxy S3 and HTC One X
As Lenovo IdeaPhone P770 is rumored to run on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS, when it comes to India, it will step into a direct fight with Galaxy S3 and One X - the Android heavyweights that are yielding good sales in the country.
When it comes to Samsung Galaxy S3, the hottest selling handset of the year packs a 4.8 inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. It is powered by a quad core 1.4GHz Exynos 4 quad processor and 1GB RAM. Further, it has an 8MP rear camera with autofocus and LED flash, 1.9MP front camera for video calling and a 2,100 mAh Li-ion battery.
As far as One X is concerned, the handset houses a 4.7 inch Super LCD 2 capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, quad core 1.5GHz Nvidia Tegra 3 chipset, 8MP rear camera, 1.3MP front camera for video calling, 16GB/32GB internal storage, 1GB RAM, Wi-Fi 802.11, Bluetooth, NFC and a 1,800 mAh Li-ion battery offering up to 8 hours backup.
Analyzing the specs, Lenovo IdeaPhone is no deal-breaker as compared to One X and Galaxy S3, but the handset is rumored to come with a marathon 3,500 mAh Li-ion battery offering 29 hours talk time, which is jaw-breaking. Moreover, if IdeaPhone P770 is priced lesser than Rs 25,000, Lenovo could definitely slash the sales of Galaxy S3 and One X as they are priced starting at Rs 34,900 and Rs 32,210 respectively.
