Huawei Ascend Mate vs Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 vs Galaxy Mega 6.3: Which One is Value for Money?

Leading Chinese tech firm, Huawei has unleashed its one of the best bet in the Indian market to head on with the ruling South Korean tech giant Samsung. Today itself, the company has officially announced the launch of its monster 6.1 inch phablet - Huawei Ascend Mate at a price of Rs 24,990.

While, the same phablet got listed on national e-commerce sites including Flipkart and Infibeam last week at a price of Rs 28,990, however; now it seems Huawei has revised the price to a lesser amount to rival against Samsung's newly launch large screen fonblets, Galaxy Mega 5.8 and Galaxy Mega 6.3, they were announced at a price of Rs 24,500 and Rs 31,490 respectively.

Meanwhile, Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3, which was informed by the company to hit stores on June 25, has already got listed on Saholic at a price of Rs 30,899. It will be available in crystal black and pure white variants in the coming days.

Huawei Ascend Mate - Key Features

Initially announced at the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2013, Ascend Mate features a huge 6.1-inch HD IPS+ LCD screen display with screen-to-body ratio of 73%, resolution of 1280 x 720 and showcases a 241 PPI density.

Further, the giant phablet is equipped with a 1.5 GHz Hi-Silicon quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, an 8-mega pixel rear facing camera along with 1MP HD quality front facing camera, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS, 8GB internal memory along with 32GB expanded via microSD cards, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, A-GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, FM Radio and a huge 4,050mAh battery fitted inside.

Further, Ascend Mate will also boast Huawei's proprietary Quick Power Control (QPC) and Automated Discontinuous Reception (ADRX) battery efficiency technology and fast sharing technology. All this is fitted in the dimensions of 163.5 x 85.7 x 9.9 mm and weight of 198 grams.

Also, Huawei Ascend Mate features an Augmented Reality navigation application to help reach your destination, 'smart reading' functionality allowing quick reference to dictionaries, Wikipedia and Google Search pages, and 'swift sharing' to upload pictures, videos and other files two- to three-times faster than other smartphone users in a Wi-Fi environment.

Galaxy Mega 5.8 - Key Features

Samsung has officially launched its two massive screen phones in India today - the Galaxy Mega 6.3 and Galaxy Mega 5.8 a while ago.

With the new large size Galaxy family - Galaxy Mega 6.3 and Galaxy Mega 5.8, the South Korean company has made an attempt to add yet another interesting devices to the Android offerings in the market.

Galaxy Mega 6.3 and Galaxy Mega 5.8 - Price and Availability India is officially the first few countries to get a first glance of these new devices. The first device with the dual SIM support - the 5.8 inch display fonblet has already been listed in the Samsung official eStore at the price of Rs. 24,500 for pre booking. On the other hand, the 6.3 inch device has been officially announced at a price tag of Rs 31,490. The latter one is not listed so far on any Online retailer's site, however, Samsung has confirmed that it will land on the Indian market shelves, sometime around mid-June, estimated date June 10. As far as Galaxy Mega 5.8 availability is concerned, it will hit the retail stores next week.

As the name suggests, the Dual SIM Galaxy Mega 5.8 sports 5.8 TFT capacitive touchscreen that gives a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels and 190 PPI pixel density coupled with Samsung's TouchWiz UI. Further, the device is flavored by Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS and features like 1.4GHz dual-core processor, 1.5GB RAM, 8 megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash to record 1080p HD videos along with 1.9 megapixel front-facing camera, 8GB onboard storage expandable up to 64GB via microSD card slot, micro USB 2.0, 802.11 Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and a 2,600mAH battery.

Further, the new Mega series device will come pre-installed with a set of Samsung Smart apps - S Voice 2.0, S Travel, Story Album, S Translator, Multi Window, Pop Up Play, Samsung ChatON, Samsung WatchON, Samsung Link and more.

Galaxy Mega 6.3 - Key Features

Well, it is slightly different from Mega 5.8 in terms of screen size, which is 6.3-inch TFT HD display, along with 1280 by 720 pixels resolution and 233 PPI.

Further, Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 is powered by Dual-Core Cortex A-15 processor clocked at 1.7GHz. The Android version is 4.2 Jelly Bean OS, 1.5GB RAM, 8 megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash to record 1080p HD videos along with 1.9 megapixel front-facing camera, micro USB 2.0, 802.11 Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 all are same like Mega 5.8.

However, the internal storage in Mega 6.3 is more, that is; 16GB onboard memory with the same microSD card slot and the device is also equipped with NFC. Further, the battery is also more powerful at 3,200mAh battery. Moreover, Galaxy Mega 6.3 will support some features which were exclusive to Galaxy S4 till now, including Air View gesture and also Group Play, with which, users can connect their Galaxy Mega 6.8 phone to Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Grand smartphone.

Huawei Ascend Mate vs Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 vs Galaxy Mega 6.3: Value for Money?

Taking a look at specification of all the three smartphones it definitely feels that on an average Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 has the best specifications. But hold on, you wil have to agree that the price of the handset is costlier as compared to the Huawei counter part. Also Huawei Ascend Mate has the best battery backup.

Comparing on the basis on weight, Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 is the lightest at 182 gram while Mega 6.3 and Ascend Mate weigh at 199 grams and 198 grams respectively.
