Huawei Ascend Mate India Release: 5 Potential Rivals of 6.1 Inch Phablet To Be Priced Below Rs 30K

It seems like the Chinese handset manufacturer who ended the rumors and speculations at CES 2013 by unveiling a behemoth handset - Ascend Mate with a 6.1 inch display is all set to release the device in the global markets.

 

Now, it appears like there is some light on when these amazing 720p display handset will be making their way into India. According to a FoneArena report, Huawei is all set to launch the Ascend Mate in India soon with a price tag of below Rs 30,000.

As far as the specs are concerned, Ascend Mate features a spacious 6.1 inch Super IPS+ LCD capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, 1.5GHz quad core processor, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS, 8MP rear camera, 1MP HD front camera, 16GB internal storage, 1GB RAM, up to 32GB expandable storage, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, micro USB 2.0 and a 4,050 mAh battery.

Further, Ascend Mate is packed with dual MIC noise reduction technology, Dolby sound system, stereo recording, Augmented Reality navigation application to help reach the destination, 'smart reading' functionality allowing quick reference to dictionaries, Wikipedia and Google Search pages and 'swift sharing' to upload pictures, videos and other files two- to three-times faster than other smartphone users in a Wi-Fi environment. Also, the Magic Touch technology on the display enhances the responsiveness even with gloves.

With the launch of Ascend Mate, Huawei will be kicking off a tough competition with the other high-end smartphones and phablets including Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3, HTC Butterfly, Sony Xperia Z, Swipe MTV Volt and Byond Phablet PI.

Samsung has announced the launch of Galaxy Mega 5.8 and Galaxy Mega 6.3 - the much rumored phablets. The handsets will be released gradually from May and they have all the software features as Galaxy S4.

Galaxy Mega 6.3 houses a 6.3 inch LCD HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, 1.7GHz dual core processor, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system, 8MP rear camera, 1.9MP front camera for video calling, 8GB/16GB internal storage, 1.5GB RAM, micro SD card slot supporting up to 64GB additional storage, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, GPS, GLONASS, IR Sensor, NFC, 4G and 3,200 mAh battery.

Galaxy Mega 6.3 is not yet announced for the Indian market, but Ascend Mate comes with a better quad core processor and improved battery backup.

HTC launched Butterfly in India boasting a 5 inch LCD 3 capacitive touchscreen display with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 2, 1.5GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS topped with HTC Sense 4 UI, 8MP rear camera with BSI sensor, 2.1MP front camera for video calling, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, microSD card slot, Wi-Fi, HDMI out, Bluetooth, NFC, micro USB and a 2,020 mAh battery.

The handset is priced too high at Rs 45,999 and it comes with features including Beats Audio integration and ImageSense chip and is also water resistant. At the same time, Ascend Mate is has a better battery backup and will come with a lesser price tag.

Sony Xperia Z

Sony released Xperia Z with a 5 inch full HD capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and with Mobile Bravia Engine 2, quad core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system, 13MP rear camera, 2.2MP front camera for video calling, 16GB internal storage, 2GB RAM, micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB additional storage, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC and 4G LTE in March.

Priced at Rs 38,990, Xperia Z is waterproof and dust resistant smartphones with better display and camera performance. At the same time, Ascend Mate has a good battery and is estimated to cost lesser.

Swipe also launched a Jelly Bean phablet with in partnership with MTV. The phablet dubbed MTV Volt that carries a 6 inch 5 point multi-touch capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels, 1GHz dual core MediaTek MTK 6577 processor for blazing performance, 8MP rear camera, 1.3MP front camera for video calling, 4GB internal storage, 512MB RAM, micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB additional storage, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, micro USB 2.0, 3G and a 3,200 mAh Li-Po battery. Further, MTC Volt is priced at Rs 12,999.

With a superior display, quad core CPU, increased internal storage capacity and better battery, Ascend Mate could be a better choice, but at the same time, MTV Volt is priced too less.

Byond Phablet PIII

India based Byond launched Phalbet PIII an Android Jelly Bean 4.1 based phablet at Rs 14,499. The Phablet PIII features a 6.0 inch FWVGA 5-point multi-touchscreen display, 1GHz dual core processor, 8MP auto-focus primary camera, VGA front camera, 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and 2,500 mAh battery.

Again, with a superior display, quad core CPU, increased internal storage capacity and better battery, Ascend Mate scores more, but, Phablet PIII is priced lesser.
