Huawei on Wednesday launched its latest flagship device under its P-series: the P8. The grand event took place in London, U.K.

Huawei is well known for producing aesthetic devices under its high-end P-series and the P8 is no different. The Ascend P8 succeeded the Ascend P6 and P7.

The P8's design keeps the premium industrial language while improving on minute details. For instance, this time around, there's a uni-body design instead of the glass back seen on the P7, making the new handset rock solid.

Huawei P8 - Display

Not just that, the P8 even comes with a slightly large 5.2-inch display compared to the 5-inch on the Ascend P7. As rumored earlier, the 5.2-inch display panel still comes with a 1080p Full HD resolution. Huawei claims that the Full HD display takes up around 78% of the phone's front. The company further claims the power consumption has been reduced by 15%.

Huawei P8 - Processor

Under the hood, the P8 packs in HiSilicon's latest SoCs , the Kirin 930 and Kirin 935. Basically the phone comes with an octa-core processor, meaning the performance should be at par with the Galaxy S6. The phone is backup by a healthy 3GB of RAM. The standard 16GB version of the phone comes with the 930, while the premium 64GB version has the Kirin 935 chipset.

Huawei P8 - Cameras

The biggest highlight of the P8 will be its camera. The P8 offers a 13MP shooter with optical image stabilization (OIS).

According to Huawei, the new camera sensor, supplied by Sony employing 1.12µm pixels. Notably, the P8 is the company's first ever handset to feature OIS technology.

On the front camera, you'll notice an 8MP sensor, which should provide be enough to provide terrific sefies.

Huawei P8 - Connectivity, Battery and Software

In terms of connectivity, the device uses the Kirin's Balong integrated LTE modem with support for up to Category 6 speeds. Like the Mate 7, the high-end P8 offers dual-SIM, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and more.

The premium handset is powered by a 2,680mAh battery, with support of quick charging capability. The new P8 is running on the latest Android 5.0.2 with Huawei's EmotionUI 3.1 layer on top.

Huawei P8 - Availability and Price

The P8 will be made available in both 16GB and 64GB storage options. Yes indeed, the phone does support a microSD card of up to 128GB. It will be available in four colour options -- black, white, grey and gold.

The standard P8 comes in at a €499 (approximately Rs. 33, 433), while the premium P8 comes at €599 (approximately Rs. 40,133). The P8 will be globally available in 30 various countries in the coming days.
