Google's Android mobile OS has already dominated the India smartphone market. Although the smartphone user base in India remains small, but it is growing fast.

 

There are ample opportunities for both domestic as well as international tech vendors to release low cost Android phones. iBall, the makers behind Andi range of smartphone have come up with a new affordable handset priced under Rs.7,000.

 

Just yesterday, GizBot informed you that the Lava Iris 456 was spotted online for Rs. 7,018. Now be prepared to greet another low cost dual-core phone running the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out of the box.

iBall Andi 5-E7 Launched At Rs 6,999

The iBall Andi 5-E7 is a brand new handset with average specifications. The newest Andi handset is primarily targeted at youth residing in urban as well as semi-urban centers. The phone is currently available from online shopping site Snapdeal at a price point of Rs. 6,999.

Coming back to the specifications, iBall Andi 5-E7 features a 5-inch FWVGA display having a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels. The handset is stuffed with a 1.3GHz dual-core processor coupled with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory, which later can be expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card slot.

The makers have added an 1850mAh battery fitted inside. Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean comes out of the box.

In the imaging department, you'll notice a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera with Auto Focus and LED Flash, and a VGA quality front facing camera. The phone supports Dual SIM functionality; however, 3G connectivity seemed to be missing. Other connectivity features include: 2G, EDGE, Wi-Fi, FM Radio, Bluetooth and more features.

User can purchase the phone in two colors: Metallic Grey and Gun Metal. Besides, the Andi 5-E7, potential customers can have a look at the Lava Iris 456.

Lava Iris 456 - Direct Competitor

The latest update is that the Lava Iris 456 has also been made available online on Snapdeal at a price of Rs 7,888. It has a 4.5-inch FWVGA (480 x 854) IPS display. The handset is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor coupled with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card slot.

The makers have added a 1650mAh battery fitted inside. The device measures 10.45mm thick and weighs 147 grams. There's a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera with Auto Focus and LED Flash. Also add a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. The rear-camera also features HDR and Panorama mode.

A close look at both device does reveal that the iBall Andi 5-E7 offers better internal hardware compared to Lava Iris 456. The iBall Andi 5-E7 is even priced cheaper than the Iris 456.
