Intex Aqua 3G Launched at Rs 3,555: Top 5 Affordable 3G Smartphone Rivals in India

Low-end handsets are becoming immensely popular, especially in the heartland of India. A lot of key players in India have already launched their respective smart phone in the budget segment. Now, Intex is the latest domestic vendor to announce its latest budget handset under Rs. 5,000 price slab.

Intex Technologies on Wednesday announced a brand new phone, dubbed Aqua 3G, at a price point of Rs. 3,555. Looks like the company has finally realized that this was the time for a reinvention, and it's amazing to see a super affordable handset at Rs. 3,555.

The Intex Aqua 3G is the latest handset to be launched under ‘Aqua' series. The dual-SIM phone is aimed at the first-time buyers of smartphone in Tier 2 and 3 cities of India, the company said in a press release.

Talking about the specifications, the Aqua 3G has a 4-inch display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. It is powered by a 1.0-Ghz dual-core processor, coupled with 256MB of RAM and 512MB of on-board memory, which can be later expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card slot. On the imaging front, there's a 2-megapixel rear-facing camera, and a VGA quality front-facing shooter. The makers have added a 1400mAh battery fitted inside.

Connectivity option on the phone includes 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, FM Radio, dual-SIM, amongst others. The Aqua 3G will be available at all Intex retail stores, hypermarkets and leading e-commerce portals across India.

"There has been a vast majority of country's users who are migrating to smartphones from feature phones, it has become imperative for the industry to match the needs of tech savvy customers in India.We at Intex are at the forefront to innovate and offer products which promises the customers seamless functioning and unbeatable browsing experience at a rock bottom price. Aqua 3G is a marvel from Intex basket which will enable users to stay connected with the world all the time," Sanjay Kumar Kalirona, Business Head- Mobiles, said, in an official statement.

The domestic vendor has already announced 32 mid-range phones under its Aqua series. It now plans to launch 8 new handsets during the next quarter, the Aqua i5HD maker said in a statement.

The new Intex Aqua 3G will likely to face heated competition from best names in the industry right now, notably, Celkon Campus K35A, Karbonn A99i, Lava Iris 3G 415, amongst others.

The Android 4.4 Kitkat smartphone has a 3.5-inch display with a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels. It is powered by a 1GHz processor coupled with 256MB of RAM and 512MB of internal memory, which can be later expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card slot.

On the imaging front, it comes with a mere 3.2-megapixel rear-facing camera, and a VGA quality front-facing shooter. The makers have added a 1,400mAh battery fitted inside. The handset measures 10.7mm in terms of thickness and weighs in at 102 grams. It is now available online at a price of Rs. 2999.

The entry level Lava Iris 3G 415, features a 4-inch capacitive touch screen display offering a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. It is powered by a 1 GHz dual-core processor coupled with 512 MB of RAM. It runs on Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) OS out of the box.

Imaging aspect of the handset is taken care of by a 5MP rear camera and a 0.3MP (VGA) auto-facing shooter used in the handset. Lava has used a 4GB native memory of which only 1.79 GB is user is available. The makers have added a 1500mAh battery fitted inside. Yes, it does support 3G connectivity. It is priced at Rs. 5249.

The Karbonn A99i has a modest 4-inch IPS display and a 1.3GHz dual-core processor under the hood. The Karbonn A99i, which is now available, has a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera with Auto Focus and LED Flash. The budget phone run on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and comes pre-loaded with apps, such as Google Play store, Google Talk and Google search, amongst others.

The handset is paired with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory, which can be later expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card slot. The makers have added a 1200mAh battery under the hood. Connectivity option in the phone includes Wi-Fi, 3G, FM Radio, GPRS, Bluetooth, among others.

Micromax Canvas Engage A091

The Canvas Engage A091 smartphone has a 4-inch display with WVGA display. It is powered by a quad core processor clocked at 1.2GHz coupled with 512MB of RAM. Also a 4GB of native storage unit is used in the handset. There's a 5MP rear camera along with a front-facing 0.3MP unit. The phone runs on Android 4.4 Kitkat. It can be purchased around Rs. 5,700.

Motorola Moto E

Motorola Moto E features a 4.3-inch display with a resolution of 960x540 pixels resolution. The dual-SIM is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon 200 processor, coupled with 1GB RAM and 4GB internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card slot. The phone runs Android 4.4.2 Kitkat out-of-the-box.

The affordable handset Motorola comes with a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera on the back side, but it does not feature an LED flash and front camera. The makers have added a 1,989mAh battery fitted inside. Motorola has used a nano-coating that will make the smartphone resistant to water. Users can buy the Moto E at Rs. 6,999.
