According to recent media reports and quarter results, Apple and Samsung have been gunned by Indian brands including Micromax and Karbonn in the battle of smartphones. At the same time, Alcatel, an U.S. based firm of TCL Communications has also unleashed a couple of smartphones - One Touch Idol Ultra and One Touch Idol at Rs 21,000 and Rs 15,800 respectively. Further, the company is claiming that both the offerings are the slimmest and the lightest Android smartphones launched in India so far.
Also, Alcatel offerings come with Idea bundled plans including 1GB 3G data and 3 months free subscription to Idea TV for the prepaid consumers on a recharge of Rs 261 and for the postpaid users for Rs 259.
For those who are hunting to buy a smartphone with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS and confused on which could be a better offer, here is a comparison between the quad core handset and the slimmest handset. Read the comparison below and decide which one to buy.
Form Factor: While the form factor of the Aqua Wonder Quadcore remains unknown, One Touch Idol Ultra measures 134.4 x 68.5 x 6.5 mm in dimension and weighs in at 115 grams.
In terms of display, Aqua Wonder Quadcore boasts a 4.5 inch qHD IPS capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels and 245 ppi pixel density.
On the other hand, One Touch Idol Ultra packs a 4.65 inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and 316 ppi pixel density. Further, the display features a Dragon Trail Glass protection.
The AMOLED display is energy efficient and is good in terms of color reproduction. On the other hand, when it comes to screen legibility and resolution, the IPS display is better.
Processor: In this segment, Aqua Wonder Quadcore scores more with a quad core MediaTek MT6589 processor, while the One Touch Idol Ultra comes with a 1.2GHz MTK6577 processor. Obviously, the quad core processor is better as it delivers high performance during multitasking, deep interactivity and also provides new powerful ways of communicating and sharing.
Operating System: Both the handsets come with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box.
Camera: Aqua Wonder Quadcore comes with an 8MP rear camera with autofocus dual LED flash and a 2MP front camera for video calling. At the same time, One Touch Idol Ultra comes with an 8MP rear camera with autofocus and LED flash and a 1.3MP front camera.
Storage: Aqua Wonder Quadcore has 4GB internal storage, 512MB RAM and a micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB additional storage. On the other hand, One Touch Idol Ultra has 16GB internal storage and 1GB RAM, lacking a micro SD card slot.

Price: While Intex Aqua Wonder Quadcore is priced at Rs 9,990, Alcatel One Touch Idol Ultra is priced at Rs 21,000.
Verdict
Both the handsets come with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS and hence, they will offer some similar features, but there are many notable difference between the two.
If the concern is on beefed up specs such as a quad core processor and better front camera at a relatively low price point, Intex Aqua Wonder Quadcore could be a better option.
On the other hand, if the concern is on a handset that is slim and sleek with better display, the Alcatel One Touch Idol Ultra should be the right one.
