Intex Launches Cloud Y12 Smartphone With 3G Support at Rs 5,490

India-based Intex technologies has today officially announced its latest 3G-enabled entry level smartphone Cloud Y12 today. The device is priced at Rs. 5,490 and the company says that the device is aimed at bringing 2G users to the advanced and sophisticated Internet platform of 3G networks.

The Cloud Y12 smartphone is ergonomically designed with an enhanced performance backed by significant hardware and software configurations that make the device an appropriate companion for on-the-go users who desire to transcend the limitations of geographical barriers to stay seamlessly connected with the world.

According to the industry reports, overall mobile data traffic rose by 92 per cent in India in 2013, with 2G and 3G data traffic scaling by 66 per cent and a whopping 196 per cent respectively. This trend clearly indicates the uptake of 3G as a valued and upcoming platform even in Tier-2 and Tier-3 regions of India, amplifying the scope for enablers like entry-level smartphones.

Commenting on the launch, Mr Sanjay Kumar Kalirona, Business Head, Mobile, Intex Technologies said, "We have endeavored to empower the youth dwelling in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities of the country, which is evolving. In order to catalyze this change, we require an afford-ably priced enabler that is equipped with relevant technological backup and hardware. Our latest offering, Cloud Y12, is the best 3G-enabled device that looks impressively elegant and gives a supreme Internet user experience."

Talking about the specs, the Cloud Y12 runs on an Android v4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) operating system and comes with a 4.0 inch FWVGA screen. It is powered by a fast 1.2GHz dual core processor along with 512MB of RAM, a 4GB ROM and an internal memory, which is expandable up to 32GB.

The Cloud Y12 also features a 2-megapixel rear camera and a VGA front camera for video calling. It is packed with a large Li-Ion battery with a capacity of 2000 mAh for an extended battery backup on 3G usages. It has various GPS/Wi-Fi/Bluetooth connectivity options.

This nifty, dual-SIM smartphone is powered with Intex's OTA (Over The Air) update application, which enables a user to easily upgrade their Os and fix bugs with a simple click.

The smartphone also features the intuitive and unique applications such as ‘Shake and Save" which enables the user to capture a screen, with just one shake. The phone is also equipped with smart sensors such as the Gesture Sensor, Gravity Sensor and Proximity Sensor.

Available in White, Red, blue and black, the phone comes bundled with a free protection cover. The device is currently listed on Infibeam under a 'Coming Soon' banner.

In terms of competition, the device will fight against a number of low end 3G phones like Karbonn A12+, Micromax Bolt A58, Lava Iris 356, Lenovo A60+ and Lenovo A269i. All these devices come at a lesser price and also features 3G support.
