iPhone 5 Rival Alert: Samsung Galaxy S2 and Galaxy Note Receive a Price Cut
Following the price cut of its latest flagship smartphone – Galaxy S3 from Rs 38,000 to Rs 34,900 after the launch of the iPhone 5, the South Korean tech giant has slashed the prices of the original Galaxy Note and Galaxy S2.
The world's largest smartphone vendor Samsung released the original Galaxy Note in 2011, the first smartphone – tablet hybrid categorized as phablet. The device with its massive 5.3 inch display made scoring sales and the company has now unveiled its successor following the success of the Note.
Also, the Galaxy S2 made great sales in the last and obtained the position of the largest selling smartphone of 2011 across the globe.
Despite of the scoring sales made by these devices, the company has slashed their prices, creating shock waves among the tech enthusiasts. The price of Galaxy Note is reduced from Rs 32,700 to Rs 29,900 while that of Galaxy S2 is slashed from Rs 27,900 to Rs 25,900.
Samsung Galaxy Note
When it comes to the specifications of the Galaxy Note, the phablet sports a 5.3 inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display with 1280 x 800 pixel resolution. Further, the device packs a 1.4GHz dual core processor, 8MP rear camera, 2MP front camera, 16GB internal memory, micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB and 2,500 mAh Li-ion battery under its hood.
Running on Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich OS, the Galaxy Note has a S-Pen stylus support, Bluetooth 3.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n.
Samsung Galaxy S2
The Galaxy S2 has a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED Plus display with 480 x 800 pixel resolution. The handset has an ARM cortex A9 based 1.2 GHz dual core processor, 8MP rear camera, 2MP front facing camera, micro SD card slot for up to 32GB expandable memory support and 1,650 mAh Li-ion battery.
Moreover, the handset comes in two variants – 16GB and 32GB internal memory. On the connectivity front, the Galaxy S2 has Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0, NFC and micro USB 2.0 features.
Though the handset was released with the Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS, it was upgraded to Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich OS a couple of months back and it is slated to receive the Jelly Bean OS update soon.
Apple iPhone 5
On the other hand, iPhone 5 packs a 4 inch display with a resolution of 1136 x 640 pixels, a new Apple A6 chipset, 1GB RAM, 16GB/32GB/64GB internal memory, 8MP rear camera with iSight technology and 1.2MP front camera.
Further, the iPhone 5 will come loaded with over 200 new features including improved Siri voice assistant feature, deeper integration to Facebook, new PassBook and PhotoStream apps, Apple Maps, enhanced Safari browser and many more.
iPhone 5 has connectivity features such as Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP, 4G LTE, 3G and micro USB 2.0 support. The battery is claimed by Apple to offer a talk time of 8 hours and standby of 225 hours.
