iPhone 5 Up For Pre Order on Infibeam for Rs 5,000 Prior to Official Release: Will You Buy It?

Apple iPhone 5, which was unveiled on September 12 and released in selected markets starting from September 21 was rumored to hit the Indian market on October 26 with pre-orders starting from October 19.

However, prior to its official release in the country, 16GB variant of iPhone 5 is listed for pre-order on Infibeam.com, an online retailer website for an advance amount of Rs 5,000. The listing claims that the final pricing will be based on the official price tag of the handset and that it will be released in the first week of November.

An earlier report from BGR India claimed that Apple will change the way it retails the iPhone in India. Rather than relying on carriers alone, this year Apple will launch the iPhone in the open market. This means the iPhone will be available to buy across retail stores and not just a few retailers apart from Airtel and Aircel stores. Hence, the Infibeam pre-order listing could be true, however, as it is prior to the official release, it looks like a preemptive move by the online retailer.

Talking about the specifications of the iPhone 5, it houses a 4 inch display with a resolution of 1136 x 640 pixels, a new Apple A6 chipset, 1GB RAM, 16GB/32GB/64GB internal memory, 8MP rear camera with iSight technology and 1.2MP front camera.

Powered by the iOS 6 platform with new features, iPhone 5 comes packed with connectivity features such as Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP, 4G LTE, 3G and micro USB 2.0 support. As per Apple, the battery in the smartphone offers 8 hours talk time and 225 hours standby.

In terms of pricing, tech experts believe that the smartphone will retail at Rs 50,000 approximately. However, Apple has to confirm on the release date and price in India.
