As per a recent report swirling in the tech media world, iPhone 6 with Urban Armor Gear survived a fall from the stratosphere. This drop test from space directly affirms the strength of iPhone 6 and it's case.
Back in November 2014, Urban Armor Gear sent an iPhone 6 to the space (stratosphere) using a weather balloon. It was a 3 hour and 45 minutes flight to reach a height of 101,000+ feet. The temperature at that height was around -79° F / -61° C and the wind was blowing with a speed of 70MPH.
This brother of iPhone 6 Plus had been dropped from a height using a parachute, although the flight rig was broken upon landing and the iPhone 6 withstood a 150 RPM rotational speed, where it remained undamaged .
The iPhone 6 which landed was fully functional and showed the limits of an iPhone 6 that it can withstand the low temperature, high speed wind and even a fall from space. One thing is for sure, Urban Armor Gear made the iPhone 6 to survive from this drop test.
Everyone knows, UGA is meant for designing rugged mobile accessories, this iPhone 6 case is a white composite case made of hard armor shell with soft rubber core and bumpers. These bumpers protected the Apple's latest phone from scratches and impacts with the land.
Steve Armstrong, co-founder of Urban Armor Gear said, "Our cases already meet military drop-test standards, but now we can officially say that they are space tested as well. The fact that the iPhone survived its space adventure and returned fully functioning showcases our commitment in providing our customers world-class, or in this case out of this world, protection for their premium devices."
