5 Hottest New Chinese Smartphones Launched in India in 2013

The days when China bound smartphone manufacturers were confined to their own boundaries are over. The companies have crossed their borders and have started seeping into the booming smartphone market in India with the launch of killer Android based handsets. One reason for this strategy could be that India is forecasted to become the third largest market for smartphones by 2017.

Recently, one of the Chinese manufacturer Gionee has launched their new smartphone in the market, Gionee Dream D1 at Rs 17,999.

Specwise, the smartphone comes with a 4.65 inch HD Super AMOLED Plus display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protection, 1.2GHz quad-core Cortex A7 processor, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS, 8MP auto focus rear camera with LED flash, VGA front-facing camera, 1GB RAM, 4GB internal memory, expandable memory up to 32GB with micro SD, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and a 2,100 mAh battery.

The newly launched handset has all the capabilities to compete with the likes of Samsung Galaxy Grand, Micromax Canvas HD and many othe rmajor brands prevailing in the market.

In February 2013, one more China town seller entered the desi market. It was Android 4.1 Jelly Bean based handset Jiayu G4, which is now available in India at a price of Rs 9,000 approximately, and definitely the handset is offering a tough competition to the other budget smartphones.

Regarding other features of the handsets, Jiayu G4 comes with a 4.7 inch IPS panel with 1280 x 720 pixel resolution, Gorilla Glass 2 protection, 1.2 GHz quad-core Mediatek MT6589 processor, 2GB RAM, 13MP rear camera with LED flash, a 3 megapixel front camera and a massive 3000 mAh battery.

No doubtedly, the smartphones boasting stunning specs and worth the price with features like 4.3-inch IPS capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor with Adreno 320 graphics, 2GB RAM, 16GB/32GB internal storage, 8MP rear camera with autofocus, LED flash and HDR, 2MP front camera, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G and a 2,000 mAh Li-Ion. The handset is priced at Rs 17,000 approximately in India.

It was only in February, when well known, Chinese tech consumer goods manufacturer Konka launched 2 Android smartphones in India and market their presence. Dubbed as Expose 960 and 970 the handsets were priced affordably at Rs 13,999 and Rs 14,999.

As far as specs are concerned, Expose 960 houses a 4.3 inch IPS capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels, 1GHz dual-core MediaTek MT6577 processor, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS, 8MP rear camera with autofocus and LED flash, 2MP front camera for video calling, 4GB internal storage, 512MB RAM, micro SD card slot for expandable memory support, 3G, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS and a 1,700 mAh battery.

On the other hand, Expose 970 packs slightly better specs with a 4.5 inch IPS capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels, 1GHz dual-core MediaTek MT6577 processor, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS, 8MP rear camera with autofocus and LED flash, 2MP front camera for video calling, 4GB internal storage, 512MB RAM, micro SD card slot for expandable memory support, 3G, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS and a 1,750 mAh battery.

In the same month February 2013, UMI also launched UMI X1 and its flagship successor in India at budget prices of Rs 9,999 and Rs 12,999 respectively.

When it comes to featurs, UMI X1 houses a 4.5 inch IPS display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 protected with AGC Tempered Glass, 1GHz MediaTek MTK6577 dual core processor with PowerVR SGX 531 GPU, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS, 1GB RAM, 4GB internal storage, micro SD card slot, 3G, WI-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, 8MP rear camera, 2MP front camera for video calling and 1,750 mAh battery. The handset will be priced at Rs 9,999.

As far as X2 is concerned, the phablet boasts a 5 inch multi-touch capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, 1.2GHz Cortex A7 MediaTek MT6589 processor with PowerVR SGX544 GPU, 2GB RAM, 32GB onboard storage, no micro SD card slot, 13MP rear camera, 1.9MP front camera for video chatting sessions, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, micro USB, GPS and a 2,500 mAh Li-Po battery.
