Indian smartphone arena is witnessing a slew of budget dual SIM smartphone launches from several domestic and global handset manufacturers. The budget conscious market trend has started taking these low cost handsets to an all new level.

One such India based manufacturer, Micromax has made a series of releases into the market in the past few months including a few new Superfone series handsets and a couple of phablets. Karbonn Mobiles, another company manufacturing low cost tech products is also splashing smartphones constantly at the consumers.

This week, both Micromax and Karbonn have come up with their new products – Micromax A90S Superfone Pixel and Karbonn A21 – dual SIM Android ICS smartphones priced at Rs 12,990 and Rs 11,990 respectively.

Consequently, here is a detailed spec comparison between the Micromax A90S Pixel and Karbonn A21.

Dimensions & Weight: While the dimensions and weight of Karbonn A21 are not disclosed by the company, A90S Pixel smartphone boasts a dimension of 127.2 x 66.8 x 9.8 mm and weighs in at 118 grams.

Display: When it comes to the display, A21 will pack a 4.5 inch multi-touch capacitive display with 480 x 800 pixel resolution and A90S sports a 4.3 inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels.

Processor: In this segment, A21 is equipped with a 1.2GHz dual core Qualcomm Scorpion processor and A90S Pixel is powered by a 1GHz dual core processor.

Operating System: When it comes to the OS, both the smartphones are flavored with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.

Camera: In terms of camera optics, A21 will have a 5MP rear camera with auto-focus and LED flash and also has a front facing 1.3MP camera for video calling. In comparison, A90S Pixel have an 8MP rear camera with LED autofocus and flash and 0.3MP front camera for video calling purposes.

Storage: When it comes to storage, both the handsets have 4GB internal storage, 512MB and a micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB expandable memory.

Battery: A21 will be loaded with a 1,800 mAh Li-ion battery delivering 5 hours talk time and 200 hours standby and A90S Pixel is equipped with a 1,600 mAh Li-ion battery delivering 5 hours talk time and 174 hours standby.

Price: When it comes to pricing, Micromax A90S Superfone Pixel Is priced at Rs 12,990 while Karbonn A21 is priced at Rs 11,990.

Verdict

Both the A90S Superfone Pixel and A21 are dual SIM mid-range Android smartphones with pretty decent specifications.

Speaking of the Micromax offering, the handset is preloaded with several applications including Facebook, Google Play store and Micromax's instant messaging app - Hook Up.

At the same time, Karbonn A21 is also preloaded with several apps like Facebook, Whatsapp, Karbonn Smart Browser, King Soft Office, NexGTv and PayTM.

If the concern is on a faster processor, larger display, better front camera and a relatively lesser price tag, the Karbonn A21 could be the right choice.

However, for those concerned on good rear camera performance and better touch response, the Micromax offering could be a better one.
