Karbonn Smart A1, A5 Star: Low End Android Handsets Launched to Compete With 3 Strong Budget Rivals

Karbonn mobiles, one of the fast growing mobile phone manufacturers in India has recently launched their latest two handsets called Smart A1 Star and Smart A5 Star on Flipkart and Saholic. The handsets fall in the lower end price category and come with decent specs. The handsets are priced at Rs. 3,514 and 4,890 respectively.

Karbonn Smart A1, A5 Star: Low End Android Handsets Rivalry

Karbonn has already given their best bets to the market this year including Titanium S5 and the latest Titanium S9. The later one was supposedly a dice rolled against another domestic handset called Canvas 4 from Micromax.

However, the market is now being tried and tested by various other mobile makers, especially the native ones. Thus, the level of competition can be assumed easily. Talking about the price category, the market is flooded with plethora of low end or budget handsets.

Here is a list of currently rivaling low end category handsets featuring Android operating system. All these devices fall in the similar price range of the latest Karbonn A1 Star and A5 Star. To call by names, these include Intex Cloud X3, Micromax Bolt A27, Karbonn A1 Plus along with the A1 Star and A5 Star from Karbonn.

Karbonn A1 Star

Karbonn Smart A1 star comes packed with a 3.5-inch HVGA display. The handset runs on an a close to latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS and the device is powered by a 1GHz processor which is also supported by a 256MB RAM. Other than being a dual SIM support handset, the Karbonn A1 Star also supports GPRS, EDGE, 2G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB. The phone also features a 3MP rear camera along with 0.3MP front facing camera. There is an internal storage capacity of 512MB which can be expanded up to 32GB using microSD card. The handset doesn't support 3G and is powered by a 1450 mAh battery.

Karbonn Smart A5 Star

Karbonn Smart A5 Star sports 3.2-inch HVGA display offering a resolution of 320 x 480 Pixels. The device is powered by a 1GHz processor and runs on older version of Android 2.3. However, the Karbonn Smart A5 Star is supported by a 256MB RAM. Similar to the A1 Star, in A5 Star also comes with a 3.2 Megapixel rear camera and a VGA front facing camera. The best part of the the handset is that it supports 3G network. Other connectivity features include GPRS, Wi-Fi, USB and Bluetooth. The handset also supports dual SIM support. The phone comes with an internal storage capacity of 512MB which is expandable up to 32 GB via microSD and is eventually powered by a 1200 mAh battery.

Intex Cloud X3

Intex Cloud X3 comes with a 3.5-inch capacitive multi-touch display with a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels. The handset is powered by a 1GHz dual-core Cortex A7 processor and Mediatek MT6572 chipset along with the support of 256MB RAM. Intex Cloud X3 runs on Android Jelly Bean version 4.2. Moreover, the Intex Cloud X3 is a dual-SIM phone and apart from that the connectivity options include Wi-Fi, FM, GPS and Bluetooth options. Although there is only a presence of 115MB of internal storage capacity but thanks to the expandable memory slot which supports up to 32GB. The device houses 2-megapixel rear camera and a front facing VGA camera. Eventually the phone is powered by a 1,450mAh battery which gives up to 6 hours of talk-time and up to 200 hours of standby time. It is available in white and black colors at Rs 3,790 on various retail store but so far it has not landed on Online retails.

Micromax Bolt A27

The A27 comes with a 3.5 inch TFT LCD display with HVGA resolution and a color depth of 65 K. The handset runs on Android v2.3.5 (Gingerbread) with a 1 GHz single core processor backed by 256 MB RAM. There is a 0.3 primary camera on the phone that supports video recording and when it comes to storage capacity, it comes with an internal storage capacity of 160 MB that can be expanded up to 16 GB with a microSD card and gives you a battery backup of 4 hours talk time on any 2G network as well with the 1400 mAh battery. Apart from the Dual SIM (GSM + GSM), the phone also supports GPRS and Wi-Fi and can be tethered via a Wi-Fi, Hotspot or through the microUSB port as well. It sports Bluetooth connectivity as well. The handset is available for buying at Rs. 3,740.

Karbonn A1 Plus

Karbonn A1+ comes with a 3.5-inch Capacitive Multi-touch display offering the resolution of 320 x 480 Pixels. The handset runs on Android v2.3 (Gingerbread) OS and is powered by a 1 GHz Processor and 256 MB RAM. The handset comes with a 3 MP HD Primary Camera and a VGA front facing shooter as well. There is a 165 MB internal storage capacity which can be increased to 32 GB via microSD card. Apart from dual SIM support, the handset also supports GPRS, EDGE, WiFi, WAP, USB and Bluetooth. The handset is powered by a 1500 mAh battery which gives 4 hrs (2G) talktime and 240 hrs (2G) standby time and is currently selling at Rs. 3,650.
