Lets take a look at the specs of the newly launched Lava Iris 405+. It features a 4-inch (800 x 480 pixels) capacitive touch screen display.

The new smartphone is powered by a 1.3 GHz dual-core processor coupled with 512MB of RAM and it runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) OS.

It comes with a 5-megapixel auto focus rear camera with LED flash and it also packs a 0.3-megapixel front-facing VGA shooter.

The device houses 4GB of internal storage capacity (2.25 GB user memory) which is expandable up to 32GB via microSD card.

Connectivity options remain regular with 3G (HSDPA 21Mbps; HSUPA: 5.76 Mbps) , WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth with A2DP and aGPS support. Additionally, the handset also supports Dual SIM (GSM + GSM) with dual standby.

The smartphone measures 64x125x9 mm and weighs 127 grams and draws its energy from a 1400 mAh battery.

The smartphone is quite similar to the company's Iris 405 handset. The only improvements one can see in the successor of the Iris 405 handset is the processor clock and Android version. Everything else are similar.

Competition

This is obviously an entry level Android smartphone with lesser RAM and screen resolution. Thus the recently launched Iris 405+ smartphone will compete with the new Cloud Y17 from Intex which is also similarly priced.

The Cloud Y17 comes with a 4.5-inch capacitive touch screen display (480 x 854 pixels), 1.2 GHz dual-core MediaTek MT6572E, 512 MB of RAM, Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean), 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, 3G, Bluetooth with A2DP, Wi-Fi and GPS, Dual SIM (GSM + WCDMA) with Dual Standby, 4GB on board memory expandable up to 32GB and 1500 mAh battery.

Both these phones are pretty similar and minimal differences can be found in the display size, processor clock, front facing camera and battery. However, if one takes the specs into account, Intex phone would surely be chosen.
