Lava Iris 455 Walks the Ramp: 3 Desi Dual SIM Handsets in Trouble Now

Since the debut of 2013, Lava has started following a strategy of launching smartphones every Friday under its Blockbuster Phoneday. Some of the popular handsets launched by the country including Lava Iris 430, Lava Iris 502, Iris 430, Iris 349, 351, 355 are part of the same campaign.

 

This weekend, the India based manufacturer has come up with another Jelly Bean dual SIM smartphone dubbed as Iris 455 with decent specifications.

As of now, there is no detail on the pricing of the handset, however, an inside source disclosed to GizBot that the handset will be priced in the sub Rs 10,000 range.

Lets take a glance at the main specifications of Lava Iris 455 below.

Display: Iris 455 packs a 4.5 inch qHD IPS capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels.

Processor: Iris 455 is equipped with a 1GHz dual core processor under its hood.

Operating System: As mentioned above, Iris 455 is an Android 4.1 Jelly Bean based smartphone.

Storage: Iris 455 has 4GB internal storage, 512MB RAM and a micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB additional storage.

Camera: in terms of camera, Iris 455 comes with a 5MP rear shooter with autofocus and LED flash and a VGA front camera for video calling.

Connectivity: Likewise other smartphones, Iris 455 has 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS connectivity features.

Battery: The Lava smartphone comes with a 1,500 mAh battery offering 6 hours of talk time in 3G.

By announcing the launch of Iris 455 in the sub Rs 10,000 price range, Lava would surely get into a direct rivalry with the other companies that also have smartphones in the similar price range. However, the Lava offering has several positives including its Jelly Bean OS out of the box. Hence, Gizbot slideshow that shows three desi smartphones in the similar price bracket and will face a tough time after the launch of the Lava tablet.

Micromax A91 Ninja

Micromax has announced the launch of a dual SIM Android ICS smartphone dubbed as A91 Ninja online at a price of Rs 8,499. Specwise, A91 Ninja houses a 4.5 inch capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels, 1GHz dual core MediaTek MT6577 processor, 5MP auto focus rear camera, 0.3MP front-facing camera, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1, GPS, 512MB RAM, 4GB internal memory, which is expandable up to 32GB with microSD card slot and a 1,800 mAh battery.

Anyways, A91 Ninja comes with Android ICS, while the similarly features Lava Iris 455 has Jelly Bean OS out of the box, which will improve the user experience and bring more software features to the handset.

In January, Karbonn also launched a Jelly Bean smartphone - A24 with a price tag of Rs 11,000. The A24 sports a 4.5 inch qHD IPS capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels, 1.2GHz dual core processor, 8MP rear camera, VGA front camera, 1GB RAM, 4GB internal storage, micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB additional storage, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and a monstrous 2,000 battery of unknown backup.

Though the Karbonn A24 has a better battery and improved camera spec, for consumers who prefer to choose a relatively cheaper handset, Lava Iris 455 could be a better offering.

Spice has launched a dual SIM Android ICS smartphone in January at a price of Rs 10,499. Stellar Virtuoso flaunts a 4.5 inch qHD IPS capacitive touchscreen display, 1GHz dual core processor, 8MP rear camera, 1GB RAM, micro SD card slot supporting expandable storage support, VGA front camera for video calling, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a 1,700 mAh battery.

Analyzing the specs, Jelly Bean based Lava Iris 455 could be a good option for many as it comes with an enhanced battery, however, the Spice smartphone has improved camera.
