Last month, Lava started teasing its selfie-focused smartphone over the Internet and now the company has already launched it. The phone in question is the Lava Iris X5, which is currently selling at the price of Rs. 8,649.
Moreover, the smartphone is exclusively selling via Amazon. Lava is also offering a free 16GB memory card as well. The Iris X5 will be initially available in gray and will be subsequently be available in white and black variants in the coming weeks. The phone comes with a Flip cover powered by hall sensor that puts the phone automatically in sleep mode ensuring reduced battery consumption.
The design of the smartphone is slightly similar to the Iris X1. However, the battery has been upgraded from 1800mAh to 2100mAh.
Lava Iris X5: Key Specifications
The Lava Iris X5 sports a 5-inch capacitive touchscreen IPS display offering a resolution of 1280 x 720pixels and is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor coupled with 1GB RAM and runs on Android 4.4.2 (KitKat).
The latest offering from Lava comes with an advanced imaging capability. It uses a high end 8MP rear camera with OmniVision BSI sensor, 5p lens, f/2.2 aperture and Dual LED Flash and a very apt selfie-centric front facing shooter with 5MP front-facing camera with LED flash, 4 Element Lens, Wide Viewing Angle (84 Degrees).
The device houses 8GB of on-board memory, but it is expandable up to 32GB via microSD card. Connectivity options include 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and obviously it is a Dual SIM (Normal SIM + micro SIM) smartphone with a dual standby mode. The Iris X5 that measures 7.9mm thick and weighs 135 grams is fueled by a 2100 mAh battery.
In terms of competition, the latest Iris X5 will have to face a direct competition with the recently launched Redmi 1S smartphone that comes with a similar specs. The Redmi 1S comes with a 4.7-inch HD 720p display, 1.6GHz Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor paired with Adreno 305 GPU, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of native storage and a MicroSD card slot, 8MP rear-facing camera, 1.6MP front-facing shooter, 2,000mAh, Android 4.3 Jelly Bean (Xiaomi's MIUI), 3G, Wi-Fi, dual-SIM, Bluetooth and GPS.
