Lava Iris 500 Gets Listed On Official Site At Rs 5,499
Indian smartphone makers are meticulously targeting the low-end smartphone market off late. With the advent of Xiaomi Redmi 1s, Moto E and Android One devices, the domestic vendors were the ones to get heavily effected. However, their only resort was to move downwards towards low-to-midrange markets.

Aiming, similarly, Lava has today listed a new smartphone called the Iris 500 on its official website. Moreover, the company, without making the device official has also revealed the price of the handset via the site at Rs. 5,499. The phone will be released in Black, White, Mid-night Blue, and Imperial Red color options in the country.

Lava Iris 500: Key Specifications
The Lava Iris 500 sports a 5-inch IPS display offering an FWVGA resolution of 854 x 480 pixels. The smartphone is powered by 1.3GHz dual-core coupled with 512MB of RAM and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat).
In the imaging aspect, the new offering from Lava has 5MP fixed focus rear camera with LED flash and a front-facing VGA shooter.
It houses 4GB on-board storage unit, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD card slot.

Connectivity options include 3G, Wi-Fi, Assisted GPS, Bluetooth 4.0 and it is a Dual SIM smartphone ( WCDMA + GSM) with Dual Standby mode.
The smartphone which measures 146.5mm X 72.2mm X 8.7mm is powered by 1800 mAh Li-Ion battery.
Some of the nifty features that are offered in the smartphone are smart answering, Direct calling, Flip to mute, Hands free, Conference Call and Call Recorder.
There is no word on a specific release date at this point. However, the price of the device is such which challenges the ground of Xiaomi Redmi 1s in India. Anyways, the specs of the latest Lava device doesn't match quite well with the Redmi 1s. Thus Lava might have to work a bit more on the marketing front to push up the slaes of the yet to launch Iris 500 smartphone.
