Lava Xolo A1000 Launched at Rs 13999: 5 Jelly Bean Phablets Who Will Fight Hard For Victory

As everyone wants to own a phablet, almost all the native manufacturers are launching such devices with large screen display every now and then. Recently, Micromax and Samsung came up with their phablet offerings and now it seems like its time for Lava Mobiles to enter that segment of the market.

 

Lava was rumored to launch Xolo A1000, a Jelly Bean phablet a couple of days back. It has turned true! Lava has officially launched Xolo A1000 in India at Rs 13,999 and the device is available online on Flipkart for sale.

Display: Xolo A1000 packs a 5 inch HD IPS OGC capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.

Processor: The handset is equipped with an 1GHz dual core processor for fast user interface and smooth performance.

Operating System: Xolo A1000 is based on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS and is the first Lava handset to come with the Jelly Bean OS.

Camera: Xolo A1000 has an 8MP rear camera and a 1.2MP front camera, both with BSI sensor technology for better low light photography.

Storage: The handset comes with 4GB internal storage, 1GB RAM and a micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB expandable storage support.

Connectivity: The handset comes with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G and micro USB 2.0 connectivity features.

Battery: Xolo A1000 comes loaded with a 2,100 mAh battery of undisclosed backup.

Price & Availability

Lava Xolo A1000 is launched in white color variant at Rs 13,999. As mentioned above, the handset can be purchased even from the online retailer sites.

Competition

As recent market surveys have analyzed that the Android 4.1 and 4.2 versions of Jelly Bean operating system is being largely adopted, several Jelly Bean models have started appearing in the market. Moreover, the study claims that the platform is present in 10% of active hardware globally.

Eventually, the low cost tech manufacturers have started adopting Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on to their budget smartphones and tablets. Recently, the Indian smartphone arena has witnessed several such launches from both global and native manufacturers.

Micromax has launched its first quad core Jelly Bean phablet - A116 Canvas HD housing a 5 inch HD IPS capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, 1.2GHz quad core MediaTek MT6589 processor, 8MP rear camera, VGA front camera for video calling, 4GB internal storage, 1GB RAM, micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB additional storage, 3G, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth and a 2,100 mAh battery.

Priced similarly at Rs 13,990, the Micromax phablet comes with a quad core processor. However, Lava is believed to offer a tough challenge to the Micromax handset.

Samsung aiming to make its presence prominent in different segments of the smartphone market has come up with its dual SIM Jelly Bean phablet - Galaxy Grand Duos.

The handset packs a 5 inch multi-touch LCD capacitive touchscreen display with a very low resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, dual core 1.2GHz processor, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS, 8MP rear camera, 2MP front camera for video calling, 8GB internal storage capacity, 1GB RAM, micro SD card slot supporting up to 64GB additional storage, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB, HDMI, A-GPS, DLNA and a 2,100 mAh Li-ion battery.

Though Galaxy Grand comes with improved camera performance and HDMI port, Lava Xolo A1000 retails at a lesser price tag of Rs 13,999 as compared to the Samsung phablet priced at Rs 21,500.

Swipe also entered the Jelly Bean market segment with MTV Volt that carries a 6 inch 5 point multi-touch capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels, 1GHz dual core MediaTek MTK 6577 processor for blazing performance, 8MP rear camera, 1.3MP front camera for video calling, 4GB internal storage, 512MB RAM, micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB additional storage, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, micro USB 2.0, 3G and a 3,200 mAh Li-Po battery.

Priced at Rs 12,999 and it comes with a larger display real estate, however, Xolo A1000 comes with a better camera with improved low light performance.

Karbonn Mobiles launched a quad core dual SIM Jelly Bean smartphone featuring a 4.5 inch qHD multi-touch capacitive touchscreen display with 960 x 540 pixel resolution, 1.2GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 1GB RAM, 4GB internal storage, micro SD card slot, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS, 5MP rear camera, VGA front camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a 1,600 mAh battery.

The handset is available at a price of Rs 10,990. With a lesser price tag and better processor, the Smart Titanium T1 could be a better offering, however, Xolo A1000 has a better front and rear camera and a strong battery backup.

Wickedleak launched a 5.5 inch phablet called Wammy Titan in India at a price of Rs 13,000. When it comes to other specs, the phablet sports a 5 point milti-touch Super qHD capacitive touchscreen display with 960 x 540 pixel resolution, 1.2GHz MTK6577 processor, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, 8MP rear camera, 2MP front camera for video calling, 4GB internal storage capacity, 1GB RAM, micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB additional storage, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G and a 2,500 mAh battery offering 8 hours of talk time and 260 hours of stand by.

Priced at Rs 13,000, Wammy Titan has a larger display and camera, but Xolo A1000 comes improved processor spec.
