This year could mark an era in the smartphone arena as there are several noteworthy revolutions going on across the world. Nowadays, every vendor accessory or peripheral vendor in India want to update their current product portfolio with a budget smartphone packing impressive specifications.

One such manufacturer, Lava International is highly focused in launching a variety of budget and mid-range offerings in India. Basically, the company has been concentrating on affordable handsets as such offerings are a welcome in the country with budget conscious consumers.

Well, last week, Lava was in the tech headlines as a Xolo smartphone dubbed as Xolo B700 was spotted online at Rs 8,999. Now, Lava has officially launched Xolo B700 in the country at the same price tag of Rs 8,999. Some consumers might wonder what is so special in a smartphone in the sub Rs 10,000 price range, a segment of the market that is already haunted by several vendors.

Besides the low price of Xolo B700, there is a great highlight as the smartphone is equipped with a powerful 3,450 mAh battery. Such powerful batteries are usually included only in high-end handsets and Xolo B700 could be considered as the first budget smartphone to incorporate one.

Specwise, Xolo B700 houses a 4.3 inch qHD IPS capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels and a pixel density of 256 ppi, 1GHz dual core processor, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS, 5MP rear camera, 0.3MP front camera for video calling, 4GB internal storage, 512MB RAM, micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB additional storage, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS with A-GPS and a 3,450 mAh battery with 20 hours talk time and 363 hours standby on 3G.

Despite being flavored by Android ICS platform, the solid battery life of 20 hours on 3G is quite impressive and it could make Xolo B700 a pretty impressive offering for those who like to use smartphones with increased backup in order to avoid frequent charging.

By launching Xolo B700 at Rs 8,999, Lava would surely get into a direct rivalry with the other companies that also have smartphones in the similar price range. However, as the battery life is a positive on Xolo B700, below is a Gizbot slideshow that shows three smartphones in the similar price bracket and lean battery spec. Hence, it is definite that these smartphones will face trouble with the launch of the power packed Xolo B700. Have a look at them.
